lowering a tib

I bought a 17" nakayama shumacher wheels.
After installation, it seemed that the car raised a bit higher. Had anyone put in 17's" in the car? If I lower the car about 1.3in. w/ eibachs,
will I have problems with rubbing? Thanks for the help.

Anytime you put a bigger rim than stock, on your car..it will raise the overall body line up. Even though you may still have the overall diameter of the tire/rim as stock, the center line of the rim is higher than stock, so your car raises up. The Eibach drop will cause NO rubbing at all with 17's. It will bring the car back down, and it will sit just a tiny bit lower than the stock height. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

What about using those 2.25" drop springs from B+G? Will those slam the car too much with 17" wheels? Miami roads can be ready rough, and I don't want my tires to rub out in my fender well, or my struts to blow out. What do you think?

The problem with dropping it 2.25" is that your going to need a camber kit to reduce towing. With 17's the O/D is almost comparible to the stock rims considering you increased your rim size and decreased your tire size. So with a 2'' drop it would be almost the same as if you dropped it with stock rims and tires.

If the outside diameter is the same how can the centre line be higher?
Am I missing something here or are you using egg shaped wheels?

I think Brock is right. A circle is a circle whether it's 80% rim or 60% rim.

The centre line is in the exact same spot.

I saw mine before and after 17's... same spot.

Low & Show, change your description to say, "custom egg wheels"

I have a 97 Tib. with 17's I heard that I would have to get fender flares in order to get my Tib. lowered. I know one guy who dropped down to 16's to lower his Tib. but now I just read 2000Lo&ShowTibby responce and he said that you can lower a Tib. on 17's with the Eibach spring and damper setup can someone tell me was up?? Think about it...you have a 15" rim with a specific center line. You take a 17" rim and the center line is about 1.5 inches higher. Even though you're accomadating the bigger rim with a lower profile tire, it still has a higher center line. Ask anyone that has installed bigger rims and tires on their cars before lowering. It raises the car up a little. Rob's car did it when he installed stock 15" Tib rims. People that have installed 18's have the Monster Truck Look also.

Shogun....the Eibach drop is a very small drop. Only 1.2" You will be perfectly fine with that drop and 17's. There's people on the board that are running 18's with the Eibach drop and there's hardly any rubbing at all. So you'll be fine with 17's. The most you can drop on 17" without any rubbing is around 2 inches. People with the Intrax drop (2") has some rubbing, but then again...Intrax isn't the best. If you end up getting the 2.25" B&G springs...there's a good chance that you'll have to roll your fenders a little to prevent rubbing.

i know a guy with 18 with hte apex 1.75 inch drop and they barely rub.... i also will have a set of apex springs for sale in a month for 100 dollars theyve been on my car for about 8 months....
