Default Elantra suspension...

Hey everyone... I need some help/advice. I have a 2000 Elantra and have a few mods done to it, but i decided that the time has come to get some suspension for my car. I tried to do a search but i didn't really find the answer i was looking for. But anywaysI was wondering what you guys would reccomend for the best lowering springs/ suspension would be for my elantra, and how much it ends up lowering it. I heard the H&R are good. Any advice would be appreciated. :smoking:

I was looking also.......

I found that kyb struts arent good to use with lowering springs because the are supposed to be used with stock springs. The lowering spring makes the strut compress more than stock because it is shorter. This makes the struts wear faster and probably bottom out more.

I don't think Eibach makes strus or spring for our car. Wonder if the Tib Pro System would work:ermm:

Basically we would be better off buying a strut/spring combo that is meant to work together.

We are fvcked !!!!!!!!!!!

(I might try the Tiburon Pro Kit)uzzled:

i got my elantra slammed with the H&R's and KYBS and i aint bottom out yet and the oil pan is about 3in off the ground or less... pushing down on the fender is day and night compaired to the stock setup you cant even move the front barely.

I mean that the STRUTS bottom out more because they are already compressed because of the drop springs.

Right now I drive a 97 Tib, but I used to own a 96 Elantra. BOTH with H&R springs and KYB GR-2 shocks and never had any problem. Lowering isn't too much, but after some months the springs settle like for almost 2". You can put some 195/55 15" tires, but nothing bigger (make the conversion for other tire sizes), the bottom of the car does NEVER hit the ground because car doesn't reboud even after a large bump, unless you try to pass over something too large like some ramp or garage bump stops (wich I don't think yo would do even with your car stock).
As struts wearing faster with "sport/lowering" springs, it's not because they are more compressed, it's because these springs have progressive compression rate, all OEM's (except some truly sport brands like Porsche or so) have constant compression rate.
That means, try to compress one OEM spring half an inch and you would have to apply an "F" force. Try to compress it half an inch further and again apply "F" force (right now you are applying like 2F in total). With Progressive springs for the first half inch, you apply "F"; but to compress it half an inch further, you would have to apply like 1.5F, so both compressed one inch, OEM you had to apply 2F; Progressive Spring, yo applied 2.5F total. That's why they don't ride too harsh but are yet firm.
As with KYB GR-2's, they would work FAR BETTER than OEM and last longer than OEM struts, if you use them with springos that don't go lower than 2"; my advice, go for it! You won't regret, makes a HUGE difference in the car;
