Default bending fender/tirewells

the 2nd problem im having... on my 2001 tiburon has to do w/ my front tirewells/fenders i have it lowered on intrax springs, and 205/140/17 konig traffiks/falken ziex 502's.. and i've noticed my fenders (at the top of the tirewells) are starting to bend out a bit... i still haven't gotten my alignment done, or added a camber kit.. as i've only driven it for under a month with the springs.. (wanted to make sure they settle alright) is this normal, even with correct camber, and alignment, or am i just stupid to have not had those 2 things done to begin with? the fender/tirewells are starting to dig into my tires... scraping them a bit.. leaving small slashes in the top of the outside of the tires.. front only... how should i address this problem?

205/40 is making your profile too low. Your speedo is off, too.

You should get 205/50 to be in range with stock 195/55.

I think that's your prob.

Actually you should be almost the same overall diameter as before, 195/55/15 and 205/40/17 work out about 0.5 milimetres different.

sooo.... camber correction kit for the front, and rear.. and an alignment job should fix this? im pretty sure this doesnt have anything to do w/ the tire/wheel size... so whats the verdict? lol

I gave this a bit of thought, cos I'm cosidering going to 17" wheel on my Elantra. It could be a number of things:
- negative camber
- too much drop
- shock absorbers too soft
- too much offset on wheels

DAMN! i almost want to put this post in the flame forums... because im PISSED!!! a big piece of paint fell off of my fender wells.. because i guess i hit a bump w/ the wheel turned or something... damn it... they're bent still as well.... guess i have to see a body shop.... but that's not going to really 'fix' anything.. is there a way to fix this problem for good... as in it won't happen again? stupid Intrax springs..... or possibly even stupid konig traffiks.. which turned out to be 215/40/17's instead of 205... which i have a receipt for... could the tire size be the problem?

roll the lip on the inside of your fenders, this should eliminate the digging into the tires. you should also get the alignment and camber kit to prevent from having to get new tires down the road.

the problem has nothing to do with your tire size. 205/40 is what you want for 17's, you should be just about the same diameter as stock with them. and plus anything bigger will increase the scraping, and through off your speedo.
