Default Mad slam of S coupe

Ok .. Got a 94 S Coupe... No rear struts... just shocks and springs seperate.. I am goin to cut the springs to lower this down about 3.5 inchs or so... gotta slam this thing RIGHT down... before it gets pearl candy paint and "cf" hood.. Anyone slammed these cars? Only springs I could find were 1.6 inch lowering.. BORING!!!.... So since the spring will probally just fall out over tha first bump, any ideas on how to keep it in there.. Only ones I can think of is tack weld, or strap the coil to the top spring perch, OR use shorter shocks.. which I can't really find any short enough..anyone else heard of any other idea's? Post on here or hit me on tha e-mail or MSN me at typo5@hotmail.com Thanks for your help

HAHA ya well. that user name was created a few years back when i was apprentising to become a tech. However I got outta that game.. I just play around on my spare time and shit... Custom work.. But I just thought that maybe someone on here had already done it and may have a alternative choice, thats all... Wanna make it ride as well as possible although it will be dumped. So far I am aiming towards 2003 Windstar rear shocks as they are HELLA short... probally the best shock for this job.. but anyone have any other ideas?

a 3.5" drop? And you want it to ride well. Are you serious????
You are going to run into a lot of issues dropping that low. First of all, decreasing the number of active coils on your springs enough to drop 3.5 inches is going to put hella stress on your springs. (Asking for failure?) You are definitely going to have to remove all bump stops, and have VERY stiff dampening to keep it from bottoming out, so unless you can find super high performance windstar shocks....
I know TRD makes some really short short-stroke shocks and inserts that are full race spec and adjustable.

KP61 Starlet rear race shocks, compress to a tiny 293mm! Can be adjusted (8 settings)VERY stiff.
Part number: 48531-AE831

As for your fronts, you WILL need to cut and shorten your struts if you don't want to bottom out every second. Make it a custom job and find a really short race insert to put in.

It will still drive like CRAP though, without correcting your suspension geometry with a drop like that. And you will suffer from some nasty bump steer.

You'll probably have fender clearance issues too.

It's not easy (or cheap) to drop a car that low... PROPERLY and safely. Good luck and keep us posted.

well if youre such the tech, you would know how stupid it is to cut springs. if you want that low get coilovers or air ride. if you cut the springs the ride will be so rough you will never want to drive the car, and there are other things that will happen too. such as bottoming out ALL the time over any little bump, and you will be replacing suspension parts like crazy as well.

Well I know about cuttin springs and all that.... I don't care how shitty it rides, there are lots of friends of mine who have chopped springs... slammed right down and there ride isn't great quite bouncy.. but it works.. Well I might have to try those TRD's and those other adjusables though.. Thanks for the tips... And its only a winter car so I don't care much about ride, or my camber, I'll just throw some more junk tires on....no big deal.. Although i will try to get it set a little better, drillin out the strut tower mounts to get more adjustment there.. Once its done I'll post up pics. Anymore ideas, keep em comin. Thanks

:ermm:uzzled:

dude just buy some adjustable coilover sleeves and set them at their lowest, it will still bounce like a mother but at least teh spring rate will be there so youre not scraping around every corner at 7mph aranoid:

However you can't put coil over sleeve's in the rear... which was my reason for tryin to find out some SHORT ass shocks for the rear set up.
