Default Major problem with my springs...

Hey all! :-)

I know I've posted this before, but I'm at my wits end with this.

I have B&G springs and KYB-GR2 struts. My front has almost no wheel gap, and my rear seems to sit almost an inch and a half higher than the front! I e-mailed B&G, and they are of almost NO help, but I did check and I do have the correct springs for my car. I took it back to the shop that installed them, and they said they have no idea. I think they fucked something up, but aren't admitting to it. I have NEVER seen a lowering kit that produces these results. So before I shell out the cash for my H&R kit, I'm taking it to one more shop. These guys seem pretty good.

My question is, what should they be looking for? Anyone ever have problems like this? Is it the "bump stops"? Maybe the front struts were put on the rear? I don't know, I have no idea about suspension stuff. Should I just have them rip it all apart and reinstall it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as always! Thanks guys! :-)

I wouldn't think it'd be the struts as they don't do anything to hold the car up, so even if they were the wrong ones, the car should sit at whatever height the springs dictate.
Re: the bumpstops, when I installed my H&Rs, I left the bumpstops intact, and the car sits lower, as expected. Besides, bumpstops only come into play when the suspension reaches full compression. They're there to protect the suspension from damage if the car bottoms.
Tell us this: does the rear of the car ride as firmly as the front? B&Gs are supposed to drop the car about 1.6 or 1.7 inches, right? Stupid question, but are the springs on the back lowering springs? You didn't get the stock rears reinstalled by accident, did you? It'd be easy to tell if that was the case from the ride. You'd notice if the rear springs were stock and the fronts were drop springs. Are the B&Gs a different color than the stock springs, i.e. red or yellow instead of black?)

An older post by you about the problem:

Yet another problem arises with the building of this Elantra.

I got my "new" springs from Sharkracing. They are B&G's. I had the shop install them and everything seemed to go well. They put it down on the ground, and the same thing is happening!!! The front sits even LOWER now, and the rear sits at almost stock height! I took it to another shop to inspect what the original shop did, and they said everything was installed correctly. This problem arose with my Eibachs also. The rake in height wasn't as bad though.

From the sounds of this, the same happened with your old Eibachs, correct? If that's the case, I'd take a close look at the car itself. There's got to be something wonky there. I can think of no logical reason why a car would not sit lower after having lowering springs installed. One could suggest that the springs need to settle, but even then, the car should sit level as that happens.
It's like something is physically preventing the suspension from being lowered, but then you'd know it... the back suspension wouldn't be compression properly over bumps.
Dude, this is just weird. Maybe the car's possessed and doesn't want to be lowered? uzzled:
I wish I could offer a concrete suggestion.

I have a set of B+G's on my Excel. They are 1.5 f/r, but my front also sits a bit lower, though I think it may have more to do with the Koni strut insert being shorter than the original.

Since you've already experienced this with another brand of springs, I highly doubt both could be flawed in the same manner. As Stickshift mentioned, something with the car itself must be 'wonky'. Are the front & rear strut assemblys interchangeable? If so, I'd try & swap 'em and see what happens.

BTW: B+G's are red.

Well, I'm taking it to a friends mechanic tomorrow. Thank you for your insightful advice. I think I understand what you said. I'll tell him that I think there may be something else at play besides the springs that's not letting my car sit lower. The B&G's were installed completely. Every spring is red all the way around.

I'll post tomorrow and let you all know my results. I would love to have this fixed and not have to buy a THIRD set of springs. Oh well, life goes on.

Thanks again all!

Its probally to do with the rear of ur car sittin a little higher to begin with, therefor the drop isn't goin to be eqaul.. close but not.... just like when u are slamming a car.. the rear wheel well is tuckin rim, and the front is just closing the gap.. car at the rockers sit even.. but the wheel wells make tha car look completely off..

I highly doubt that my car is going to sit almost 2 inches higher in the rear just because it may be higher in the rear stock. I'll post results tomorrow.
