I recently took a trip in my car and I had a lot of weight in the back of my car. Halfway threw the trip my back passenger side wheel area started to make a mildly loud rubbing sound. When I got home I drove on it without the weight of my stuff in the car and it still makes the rubbing sound. I don't know if I blew a strut or if I messed up my wheel mounts or bearings. The main thing I noticed now was is that when I hit a bump my wheel on that side bottoms out even with just my weight in the car and the rubbing sound still remains, anyone know of any reason its doing this? uzzled:
The easiest thing to do would be to jack up that corner of the car and look at the strut and spring. It sounds like the spring might have broken, and the rubbing sound could be the broken part of the spring rubbing on the wheel or tire.
I've checked the spring and its still in good condition, couldn't really check the strut though. If a sturt is blown though would it make the car bottom out on bumps, if the spring could support the bump? I'm hoping its not anything that's going to be cost really efficiant! :depressed:
If the strut was blown, I guess the car might bottom, but the more obvious thing would be if that corner of the car was bouncing over bumps, while the other side was fine.
If that corner of the car is bouncing a lot, then it probably is the strut.
The springs hollds the car up.The struts or shocks keep the car from bouncing
out of controll. If u looked under the car these problems would be very easy to
spot. The only other problem witch are very unlikely might be is a broken swaybar
or broken or loose susoention bolts.
