Default To anyone with a j2 elantra with Gt tiburon sway bar!!

I’m having a problem with this thing. It keeps moving.

If you center the sway bar there is aprox 3/8" of space of both sides beside strut. But after driving for a few hours the sway bar will move over against the right passenger side strut and rub! Loud.

I have the correct bushing brand new one I installed it, the bar is brand new also. And just a few days ago I took the whole back end apart looking for lose nuts or anything and made sure my end links weren’t' stiff or anything, and they are free and moving; no rust no nothing.

I’m out of options, except to move into the money spending time. I’m going to get an alignment done but I don’t see how this will do anything. I do have a slight bit of negative camber in the back, I cant say for sure how much but it is not large, I should take a pic, but when ever I try to upload pics on this $^@#$ %&%# site, it never gets approved just sits there for years! ':Sleepy:'

The car drives fine, just rubs, when you turn right even on the smallest right turn; but not over bumps, no sound.

Someone mentioned to me the bushings weren't holding on but it's the correct bushings so that doesn't make sense; another person said end links they are fine. My car doesn't have like a millions ponds on one side of the car.

Could really use some help!!

just cause no one else will help you...

hmmmm...

i really dont know what to say. Are you sure the bolts to the struts are holding tight, the can rotate in their mounts and you cant see, the nut on the strut should travel a good distance down the treaded shaft... im not usre if that will help, but mine were loose after i installed the KYB's, i just didnt tighten that all the way. only when you turn right huh?.... hmmmm... are you sure its the sway bar that rubs?

not familiar with the particulars of your suspension, but I'll take a stab at it... before I do I need to know more, so... you bolt it in, and drive for a while and you hear rubbing, when you look at it a seccond time after hearing the rubbing, it has changed position? could it be your end-links? is the bar the right size for your car? or could it be the bushings around your bar that were probably meant to hold a much smaller bar? anyway, too many questions.... :??:

the bar fits perfectly fine; just moves.

the bushings are brand new and were purchased with the sway bar, brand new from the dealership.

the endlinks were the only thing that came from my car. and they are fine, they move freely and are still well greased.

in the morning i'm going to pull out the seats take off the wheels and go over it again.

if you set the bar where it is suppose to be in the middle it will be good depending on how aggresive i drive, from a couple hrs to a day then it start rubbing again.

on a side note: my mothere weighs in at around 220lbs {she is not all fat boys, she can man handle 3 fullyl grown men at the same time she is not only a big lady but a strong one at that}.......when she sits in the passenger seat it does not rub! or rubs very very slightly to the point where you can barely hear it. explan this????

Get hose clamps and put them on the bar either side of the bush. I did this and it never moved again.
