Re: Lower control arm..please help
well to replace the lower control arm its about 2-3 hours labor with alignment.
If you have power tools, jack stands and a jack you can do it yourself. You will have to remove the spindle/hub assembly from the ball joint (after disconnecting the strut assembly, and taking the cv axle nut off of center of the hub, and the tie rod.)
To get the whole hub/spindle/steering knuckle off of the ball joint, hit it an an angle with a brass hammer untill it pops off. (hit it on the cast iron part of the knuckle, not the ball joint, although since your relacing it it may be easier to take a hammer to the ball joint)
After it is all off remove the controll arm bolts and pull the thing off.
Note than when reinstalling it, after you have the lower controll arm on, and bolts in it, put a jack on it and lift it to approximate ride height, then tourque the bolts down. This is so you dont tear the bushings apart when everything is installed.
Then reinstall everything making sure to torque everything to spec, unless you want pieces of your suspension flying off the car later on.
You will then need to get an alignment.
But yea a shop will charge anywhere from 200-400 dollars with the alignment
