So have you got any feedback about the braking distances and the whole feel of the car after the swap.

nice conversion scrud! Can't wait to hear how it handles!

So are you sure this conversion would work on an X3?

Hey Guys, I'm on of the Administrator's at MirageForums.net, and thought I might chime in (btw, thanks for the info, I may do this on my 2002 Accent!).

The 4G Mirage (1993-1996) in the US was available under 4 names:

Mitsubishi Mirage
Dodge Colt
Plymouth Colt
Eagle Summit

The only cars that have rear disc brakes in the US are the ABS model cars, and to the best of my knowledge, these are ONLY 4 door cars. Having crawled through 300+ cars in junkyards, I have only found rear discs on 1 model myself and that is the ABS modeled Eagle Summit ESi (which would make them only 1995-1996 cars). This might not be 100% correct, but none the less, they are rare.

That being said, the 4G and 5G cars (97-02) have nearly 100% interchangable brake components and I know that some guys have swapped older Evo brakes onto their Mirages/Protons/etc. This is another possiblity for fronts and rears.

In regards to the front brake setup, the Galant setup that is being used (see the link to double check everything) is from the US SPec Galant VR-4 brakes (thus requiring 15" wheels, min). The galant is 4x114 from the factory, so the rotors would have to be redrilled. Grasshopper at MirageForums.net has a great source for these drums predilled at 4x100 at a good price.

Again, I've become somewhat detached from the technical side of Mirages (not had my Galant VR-4 or my Mirage for 3+ years), but I somewhat follow braking setups there.

Good luck!

Very nice work!! I'm pretty sure though, that the whole setup from a tiburon/elantra j2 , will fit exactly in the rear of the LC. Do you think so?

nope. ive tried it and so have others. the rear lateral control arm doesnt bolt up and the spacing between the other 2 control arms is different.
