a sway bar shouldn't affect the ride quality of any car
in fact they allow you to run a softer spring but still have the roll stiffness of a stiffer spring, bmws have been using this practice for years.
A sway bar controls side to side motion(body roll) not up and down motion(suspension travel), unless you have so much suspension travel that the bar limits the ammount, which is why rock crawlers disconnect their sway bars or remove them entirely.
I have the psc adjustable rear bar on both of my accents.
I run both at full stiff and both are pretty streetable
At full stiff I still have to adjust my shocks and tire pressures to get the desired oversteer i'm looking for when I autocross.
Having the adjustment just allows you to add in more rear roll stiffness as your driving skills get better or when you feel you need the rear of your car to do more work. If you haven't already, dial in your suspension before you even get the rear bar and then you can use your rear sway bar as a tuning tool from there.
On the street the full stiff setting works well for me but in autocrosses I wish I had an even bigger bar, a 22mm or bigger would be pretty kick butt.
For street driving I think most people would be fine on the softest setting which is still noticeable over stock
hopefully this will convince you to pay the extra money and get the adjustable bar
