Well, it was a great time and anyone who missed it should try to make the next one. We're going to try to get the HP.com and NT.com people together more often as we have so much in common and we've found we have a great time when we're together.
Some of us Washington people met up at the Tumwater Fred Meyer where we bought some cheap plates that we were going to try to use for tray sliding. Then we headed down towards Portland on I-5 and everything was going great until we got into Cowlitz County and we spot a State Trooper with a lidar gun in the median. I'm about in the middle of the pack at the time cruising at about 75-80mph. For some unknown reason the trooper picks me out of the pack...guess it was my lucky day. The best part [sarcasm] He claimed he had me at 88mph, which is bullshit. It's completely false. Those that know me know that clocking me at 88 would not be that unusual, but I wasn't going near that at this time. Wilbur was in front of me and sephlar (NT.com) was right behind me both verified that we were travelling at 80mph or less at the time. I'm going to get a lawyer and fight the ticket because that's what I always do, but on top of that this one is truly BS.
On top of that event putting a damper on my day several people dove off the highway in an attempt to hide and some people kept on driving so our caravan down was broken up pretty badly. I think everyone did make it to Rooster Rock though in the end.
We had a good time at the park just sitting around talking and eating some bbq. Wilbur's keys were nearly stolen by a squirrel. lol. For some reason we had caught the attention of an Oregon State Trooper...apparently having several cars sitting together is suspicious in Oregon or something. He watched us for a good 45 minutes. Guess there was nothing better to do.
Savis (NT.com) guided us on a cruise through some beautiful backcountry to Multnomah Falls. There was no room to park at the falls though so we took pictures from in the cars and continued on to a little parking lot outside of Troutdale. It was a great drive, not really a high speed event, just a nice cruise at a little above the posted limit. It was a great road for it and a lot of fun all the same.
At the parking lot I broke out the trays for tray sliding. Wilbur went first. Some people in a Volvo stopped to watch and encouraged us to do it again after Wilbur was done. I went ahead and took a turn as well. Here's the video:

A few of us headed to get gas and the rest of the group went another way. We got back together at an outlet mall. After that people started to filter off and head back home. Me, Sharkrocket, and sephlar headed with Savis back to his house and played some poker before heading to a local bar Savis frequents. Me, Savis, and my wife sat and talked cars while the others went to eat dinner then we said goodbye and headed towards home.
That was a great cruise untile about mile marker 85. Traffic was stopped. I mean just dead stopped. It was about midnight and I-5 northbound was completely shut down. It stayed that way for two and a half hours. Pretty much everyone had shut off their cars and it made for an eerie post-apocalyptic looking highway. 2 lanes as far as you could see either direction with only a light on here or there. As it turns out some guy had a breakdown on the side of the road a couple of miles ahead of us. His dog got loose and ran into traffic and he stupidly ran after it. They were both struck and killed. The driver and passenger of the car that hit him were both okay.
I'll post up my pictures soon.
