Steel Valley Regionals - Chester, WV! Sept 5th - 8th
Steel Valley Regional III Approaching Fast And Furiously
Thursday, August 21, 2003 by Ari Rubin
Exhibitors and competitors alike are gearing up for the Third Annual Steel Valley Regional auto show and auto sound competition event to be held September 5-8, 2003 at the Mountaineer Gaming Resort in Chester, West Virginia.
Three of the major sound-off organizations—dB Drag Racing, IASCA, and MECA—will come together under one roof to offer their competitor members an event to remember with trophies, awards, and additional points. In addition, IASCA has committed to award qualifier status to compete in their world finals to each member who competes. During the awards ceremony on Sunday evening, the following sponsoring companies will give out trophies:
MTX and Xtant (IASCA)
AAMP of America/Stinger (MECA)
AngelTrax Wireless (Top 26 Showdown Vehicles)
JL Audio, title sponsor of the event (Best Installation & Best Sound)
According to Larry Chijner and Mark Liggett, organizers of the event, a large contingent of competitors is expected based on last year’s showing and pre-registrations to date for this event.
"The car audio community and the autosound competition stars are strongly supporting this event—Gary Biggs and Mark Eldridge of Team JBL will be there to support competitors, and Alma Gates of Team Gates will personally raffle off a subwoofer from her award-winning Bronco, and top-notch SPL competitor Chris Norris of Team Rockford will raffle off his original Ranger truck. Part of the proceeds will go to a local children’s charity called Coats for Kids."
Open to the public at no charge, the Steel Valley Regional III event will offer a plethora of activities for show attendees including a Tuner Toys competition, outstanding autosound competition vehicles, a chance to talk with the car audio world’s leading sound-off competitors, a dB DRAG 2 X show—which will be live via the Internet, and a MECA SQ and SPL competition.
Plus, the Mountaineer Resort sports over 3000 slot machines, live horse racing, golf, a health salon and many options for food and refreshments.
Along with title sponsor of the event—JL Audio—the following manufacturers will showcase their greatest components in exhibit booths:: AngelTrax Wireless, Arc Audio, Audiobahn, AudioControl, Auto Illusions, Batcap, Coustic, Crossfire, DLS America, Diamond Audio, Dynamat, Eclipse, First Class Auto Center, Focal America, Future Sound, Image Dynamics, Infinity, JBL, Kicker, L&M Electronics, Lightning Audio, Look and Listen, MTX, MB Quart, Memphis Car Audio, Ohio Generator, Polk Audio, Q-Logic, Rockford, Streetwires, Team Gates, 21st Century Sound, Xtant, and Zapco. Autosound publications include Car Sound and Performance magazine and the 12-Volt News.
Hotel accommodations are available at the new 400-room Grand Hotel that is within walking distance of the air-conditioned arena where the show will be held. Room reservations can be made by calling 304-387-8000.
Chijner continues, "We are only days away from this event taking off—if you need information or would like to register your vehicle to compete in the dB Drag, IASCA, or MECA competitions, please contact Larry Chijner at 412-859-8810 or Mark Liggett at Future Sound, 740-264-0764."
