Default Moving To Tempe, AZ.

Wasn't sure if I should of started a new topic or put this in the AZ babble thread but anyways my girlfriend and I are moving to Tempe from NY in late May or early June. I was curious if anyone could help me out with finding good websites to locate jobs and apartments. Also I would appreciate it if anyone that lives in the area could just give me some information about what its like living there. My girlfriend and I have been to Tempe twice in the past year but before I move I would like to get more info.

What's goin on mayn? Tempe is a real nice place to be, pretty much around everything. It's a lively place being that it's around ASU, plenty of things to do. Rent for apartments is actually cheaper out there then it is over here on the West Side. www.rent.com is a good place to look at apartments if you haven't already looked there, and hotjobs off of yahoo is a good place to look for jobs. If you're looking for something temporary when you first get here you are pretty much guaranteed to get a restaurant job to hold you off until you find a better job. I would move to that side of town but I have two good paying jobs over here and the traveling distance isn't worth it for me, it's real nice in Tempe though, i'm over there at least once every other week. Good night scene. If you need anymore info. man just ask.

Hey thanks for the replies so far I appreciate it. My girlfriend will be attending ASU's BSN program she is graduating this semester with her RN so she will be working at one of the hospitals in the area, she already has 3 or 4 offers. As for myself I graduated a few months ago with a bachelors in History/Political Science so my thinking was to get a temporary job that would be enough to pay rent while looking for something that fit in with my degree. My belief is however that there might not be much in Tempe for a Hist/Poly Sci guy although I have yet to conduct any research so if anyone knows of any openings or works in such places as Museums, Historical Foundations or anything political in nature that would be cool.

Coo coo, I know there's a lot of museums/historical sites around here. But, as you said, I don't believe they're in Tempe, I haven't been to any of them, just heard a lot of talk in my HUM108 class. There's a really big hospital, in Tempe, that your girlfriend may want to look into if she hasn't already. I have to search for it, I had a side business going on repairing/teaching computers to customers and one elderly guy went this hospital often. Damm, me and my boys drove by it last week too, I can't remember, i'll post back up when I find it. I really don't know about jobs for you tho mayn, haha my bad. I'll try and look into it for both of you.

AZ eh? tempe is not so bad place to live...its a college town and ASU is number 1 for parties so make what u want of that. could be a good thing or might not be. as for what its like here. its something totally different than NY.. number 1: people actually have tint on their windows, if you dont, you will pay for it in the summer. number 2: people have "rugs" on their dashboards. why? the sun is so bad that it will crack, dry and discolor your dash of your car. the summers can be brutal to new people here. expect by May even late april to see triple digit numbers...but hey, its a dry heat so its not as bad as say...florida..ya get used to it. besides our heat...my only other problem is (i dont have a problem with heat, some people do..i LOVE the heat) the way people drive here. no one knows how to drive. they drive slow, stupid and the most ignorance a human being can have...a mix of old people and "different cultures" make insurence high..arizona has the most stolen cars...(who knows why) but if you take extremely simple precaustions you wont have a problem. we have some nice car scenes here. our nightclubs suck...but Mill ave (which is in tempe) is known for its weekend parties. You will love it here after a while. i was born and raised here and still love it! if you have any questions feel free to ask any of us. i see that frankie (98tibbyfx) and chris (the_guff) have already answered some questions...good luck! and keep in touch!

P.S. try
www.azcentral.com for places to rent and for jobs! :rambo:

Haha, that is hilarious Mike, hahaha. People of "different cultures," good stuff. Nightclubs only suck if you're under 21, like myself and these other two guys...well Mike just for a couple months more.
