Hey, does anyone know what type is the bulb in 01-02 Elantra dome light? I checked Sylvania. It says DE3175. I think it's wrong. I pulled mine out and took a picture and it doesn't look like 3175 at all. Here is the pic.

And here is a pic of actual 3175

So does anyone know the type of the bulb on the top. By the way, it says "KO 12V 10W"

The light that is on the bottom, the supposed "3175" is the one in the pre-2001 Elantra; last generation. Just take that bulb to Pep Boys, and look for one that looks like it or Napa and say you need a new one, but not sure what type it is. Or better yet, bring it to the dealer and ask for a replacement because they know what goes in there.

It looks like a 194, but it's hard to get a "scale" from that picture. Perhaps take another picture with the bulb next to a quarter.

-jrh382, I need a blue one. and of course dealership doesn't have those. And they also could not tell me the type of the bulb. All they had was a part # which doesn't help me at all. I'll take it to PepBoys I think.
-i8acobra, yes it looks like 194 but all 194 bulbs i could find on ebay or e-stores are 5watt. Mine is 10watt. Would it be okay to use lower watt bulb?

Just match the bulb up with one at Pep Boys. They have a million of them on the shelf

Alower wattage bulb would be OK, but it won't be as bright. If you use a HIGHER wattage bulb than stock, then you're asking for problems.

Right, go to Pepboys and look at their little bulb selection. They should be there. Just make sure the ones you buy are color impregnated glass and not painted. the painted ones will turn violet and look stupid. I put one in my dome light and found an old extra dome housing in my garage and fit it in with the first blue bulb so now I have two dome bulbs that shine bright blue, along with the lights on the doors that go on when you open them. I changed those to blue too.

Well, I checked Pepboys and AutoZone. They didn't have it and they didn't know what type it was. So none of you with 01-02 Elantra replaced the dome/map lights in your car?

Look aboveand see that I have changed my bulbs to blue. I will look today and try to see if the bulb # is on the package. Where are you from bluegt? On long island, all the pepboys i go to have the same selection and they all have the blue bulbs. Also, I would tell you not to replace the map lights only because it is a little too dim if/when you really need to use it. I have those too but put the originals back in.

I am from Arlington, VA (it says in my sig). And actually I want the blue bulb because I want it to be dim. So can you tell me the type of the bulb? Or what does it say on the package? Is the bulb 10 watt?
