The display cluster on my 02 lights up a blue/green which is cool but I would really like a solid blue.

Is it the bulbs that make it shine blue/green or is it something in the display itself? If its the bulbs then I can simply replace the current blue/green ones with any color I prefer right?

Thanks!

Has anyone done this yet? Where did you get the different color bulbs?

The first set I got was from autozone. They were PAINTED blue bulbs. They got lighter every week until they were barely blue anymore after about 2 months. I then went to a local speed shop and got blue GLASS bulbs. The glass is actually blue and will not fade like the paint. Remember #194, 4 of them behind the cluster. Easy 15 minute job. Just remember to COMPLETELY unhook the battery. Some people have gotten lucky and not had their air bag light come on while pulling out the cluster while some peoples have come on. I would rather unhook the battery and not take the chance. Good luck and tell us how it turns out

I did it to my 01', I guess I got lucky with the airbag because I forgot to unhook the battery. I bought these greenish blue from Pep boys, and also bought the blue ones from Autozone, The Pep boys are doing fine been about 2 months. The Autozone ones I didn't feel was actually blue, the bulb was but the color seemed more white.

ok i kno im kinda late in respondin but here's somethin i did, which i dont think anyone else have done........

ok if you have sidemarkers then u kno which kinda bulbs im talkin bout, well basically all i did since the sidemarker and the gauge cluster bulbs ARE the same size bulbs, i went out and bought some hyper white 194 bulbs and put them in the gauge cluster and OMG, they look fantastic!!!

the only folks who have seen em are umm......
silverbullet 2k and 2k1accentgl
and none of those folks post here often!
but trust me if u want a cool white with a touch of blue look to your dash but still keep the black outlining for now, go and get the hyper white 194 bulbs!!
u will absolutely love the new look!!!
i kno i do, cause man that stock green look is ugly!!! now that i look back on it!!

Just out of curiosity, if the Illumination power applied to inverter in the cluster is converted into the alternating current (AC), which is supplied EL (Electroluminescent Lamp) sheets to be illuminated, how do you change the colour of the EL sheets? The other thing is im from OZ and only 2 of the #194 bulbs are in there with green covers. The other 2 positions for bulbs below are covered with black rubber, should I remove these and insert some bulbs?
