I read somewhere that the 2.0L BETA engine and the 2.7L DELTA were both being developed with 6-speed trannies in mind. But to differentiate the two models, they stuck a 5speed on gt and gts (korea) and put a 6speed on the elisa(korea). A mechanic told this guy who was asking the question in korea.

So who knows, perhaps we can stick that 6speed tranny on the beta afterall....

This info might not be true, but its still a good start.

Japanese have been developing the 6 speed for Elisa. I hear it is the almost exact ones from the Lexus IS300. Anyways, japan has 6 speed available for I4s aftermarket. But hell, they cost you a fortune -_-; Also, MSM R&D (Tuner in Korea) also offers 6 speed in I4 but again the price..-_- anyways, I would probably stick with 5 speed I4 unless I super charge/ turbo it.

The 6-speed will not fit on the BETA. It will however fit on the DELTA. (Different engine groups).

Different way the transmission mounts to the engine so well exactly how much you willing to spend? Everything is possible but it comes to $$$. In this case I think it falls under the same category of AWD on a Tibuorn.

No, it wouldn't even be close to the one in the IS300, as that car is rear wheel drive. The transmission would sit behind the engine and partially under the passenger compartment vs. being entirely in the engine bay like a fwd car.

Would be nice to have a rwd Tib though!!

6-speed Santa Fe????

THAT WOULD BE REALLY COOL

but

Santa Fe is AWD not FWD In other words I think you are screwed cause of the drive train. Unless it is a TRUE 4WD system. I still dont think it would work.

ONLY HYUNDAI other then the Tiburon that it will work on is, the 2002+ Sonata V6 2.7L.

Smiley,
The Santa Fe can be had in the V6 flavor without AWD, so in that case it should bolt up...the only caveat would be the shift cables lining up properly, but that could be done as well.
