im new to hyundais, I had nissans and hondas before this. Before saying Im a noob who doesnt know how to drive a 5-speed read the whole post. My 96 accord had 270k most of which I put on it and it had it's originalclutch when I blew the motor. What's wierd is 5000 miles after i bought my 04 GT the clutch went out. one side of the clutch disc completely came off and shredded. The shop I bought it from said they put a new clutch in it right before I bought it and there was evidence the trans had been out recently. I put a F1 racing stage1 clutch with lightweight flywheel in it, hoping for a little more durability and a strong enough clutch for light mods. Its been 7000 miles and I had to take the engine out and put a new trans because 2nd and reverse went out due to that same shop putting ATF in it instead of gear oil, and I noticed my new pressure plate has some material in it so I took the clutch out and the disc seems a bit worn more than it should be, it still has ridges but the flywheel has some blue spots. When driving the car, you have to rev it around 1200-1500 to keep it from stalling out like the engine has no low end torque to pull the car. Ive tried keeping the rpms under 1200 but it just wont do it, especially if you wana pull into traffic quick or something like that. I really dont wana be buying 2 clutches before I even do every timing belt, does anyone have any ideas?

^lightweight flywheel has caused the issue. It'll require more revs from a standing start to get it rolling and that extra revving is putting heat into the flywheel and clutch causing hot spots and excessive wear on the clutch disc (which is probably a stock clutch disc and should've been a kevlar composite) Flywheel is designed to store energy. A lighter one will improve throttle response but reduce torque.

..and the shop doing your work uses monkeys instead of guys with poseable thumbs and semi-developed frontal lobes
