I'm looking to replace the factory am/fm/cassette radio in my 1990 miata, but the only issue is its a 1.5 DIN unit and all of the mounting kits for a single DIN unit I've seen for it are fugly. Does anyone make a decent head unit in this size? I'm not looking to run a subwoofer, hell it probably wont have to run more than the two door speakers which I'm going to upgrade with Clearwater units, i just want good clear-for-a-head-unit sound for under $300. Where should I look?

when u say DIN, i'm assuming its double deck size. and you dont want that conversion kit that allows for a head unit up top and an empty tray space down bottom? so you are looking for an entire unit to fill the entire space? if so, sony makes some like that for the price your looking for. alpine makes some like that, but way more than you want to pay for.

After reading thegrim's post I am confused. i.m assuming a 1.5 din is the same size as the one for my 1999 accent. if that is the case, the cd player will take up the whole slot and you will not see the installation kit. i did a search as cruchfield.com and came up with this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jYwPci1F9BM/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?g=300&avf=Y

and here for cassette players:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jYwPci1F9BM/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?g=200&avf=N

you will need to enter the car again
