1.6L maximum boost

Hi, what is the maximum boost a 1.6L DOHC can handle if I keep the 10:1 compression and stock internals? Of course I will use a program to retard timing and all.

My real question is what is the maximum reliable boost I can get.

Also, what turbo do you recommend me? I think that the garrett T25 might be the best. Thank you.

Hey im also planning on getting a turbo for my 05 accent prettty soon. Ive heard that with stock internals its best to run on around 8 pounds of boost. As far as a turbo im looking at a stage three HKS turbo.
its hard to say safe max boost pressure.....depends on the size of ur turbo and the cfm of air your stuffing into ut motor... and if u can keep up wiht fuel....
With a gt25R, fuel is no problem. Stock internals.
Based on the numbers that I have seen on this forum, I believe that the Garret t25 is the best.

That’s why I bought one. One day I will actually install it....Delayed due to unforeseen destruction of life from some witch named Katrina.

BTW. Its OK to laugh.
running a very restrictive 14.5 psi right now, looking to open her up shortly and see what we can get

stock internals

255 lph fuel pump, 500cc injectors, megasquirt 'n spark extra
omg.. was i ever like this?

ummmmmmmmmmm for a 1.6 stroker on the stock hyundai internals i would suggest a gt22. go from there and have fun.
and how much boost can the stock fuel pump take?
question for rbuecker

On your dyno chart (http://hyundairacer.com/albums/2004accent/2006Aug01dyno.sized.jpg), it seems weird that your max torque and max HP are nearly at the same RPM. The normal would be that your max torque be around 3000RPM and max HP around 5800... but your dyno graph shows that max torque and max HP are both at ~5000 RPM.

have you done any other changes to your engine like cams?
the head/block have not yet been defiled, stock cams my friend
Well this is the weirdest dyno graph I've seen in my life then :)

Now I see what you mean by VERY restrictive turbo setup, your torque falls so fast after the peak that hp falls at the same time.

What makes your setup that restrictive?
i am taking a wild guess here....

by restrictive you mean that you are using a stock scoupe turbo. or at the most a t20.

this turbo is spooling far FAR before peak torque.

nah, i had to use 2 flanges to get the clearance for the turbo due to bad measurements on my part. so im only using, at best, half of the exhaust opening into the turbo. that's the restriction i'm referring to.
ok now I see, that means that keeping that same max torque RPM, you would have over 200HP at like 6000-6500 RPM. Great!
Hey i am looking at turbocharging my excel (1.5DOHC) Ive done all the airflow calculations running at 10 PSI boost (is that safe, if not ill fix it so it is! :p ) and ive looked at quite a few compressor maps and found that the Garrett GT2560R (that or something like the 'Disco Potato') is pretty much matched to my engines airflow. Ye so i was wondering if the internals will handle it and also what work would i have to do 2 support ~15 PSI? Decompression plate, Low comp pistons?... or not?

Dude...I asked the same question no more than a month or so ago...did you even use the search function?
here's my dyno for a 1.6 Getz(running TF035 turbine with stock internal @ 0.55bar)

185.5bhp

251Nm torque..

what year is your Getz? Either way the 1.6L should be the same in all Hyundais. Your running on stock internals right? What is your whole setup? I'm still waiting for someone to give me a list of "Things to buy" and where to get them.
finitile... check my cardomain page.... thats pretty much everything to do properly... or chek psc they have a turbbo kit... so thats pretty much all u basically need

1) turbo(wastegate/actuator)
2)manifold
3) downpipe
4) intercooler
5) bov/recirculation valve
6) injectors.. @ least 290cc
7) walbro 255l pump (you wun need them if u're running 8psi)
7) oil cooler(good to have)
8) all oil lines(feed/drain)
9) all pipings.. (intercooler/vacuum pipes)
10) fresh sparkplugs/oil
11) most importantly.. a piggyback or standalone ecu.. Emanage would be good..
