Don't do it. Your windows will not work correctly and that is not covered under warranty. Your warranty is not affected unless something malfunctions and they can directly attribute it to the aftermarket part

I work in a tire shop and do this every day. I've never heard of the windows not working from upsizing the rims. There is no warranty on the tires or rims anyway so i'd go for it. I will be putting 17" on my car soon as well.

Thanks (yeah, I have no idea what upgrading rims has to do with the windows not working)

I agree with mw. How could the windows not work correctly from changing the tires. That is the most ridicolous thing I ever heard. You are not going anywhere near the windows!

However, I think 17s are too big. I would go with 16s. Thats what Im getting on my 2k Elantra.

I apologize to all who didn't get that it was a joke. That is why I added the second part about the warranty not being affected. I have 17's on my 2k1 and my windows work even better than before!!

I put on 17" rims and 205-45-17 tires. The looks and handling are great, but the ride quality does suffer a bit. 16's might be a better compromise. I got a great deal the internet from Victoria tires for $1,375. They were ready to put on the car. I got chrome wheels which are more expensive.

good luck!

Can all you guys with 2001 Elantras and 17" wheels post the pics of your rides? I am thinking about getting 17"s for my car too.
Dashley33, by the way, your car looks nice. But I didn't like the site where you uploaded the picture. People write too much BS over there. Especially, there was one guy who installed a turbo from a Talon on his Elantra and still lost to his friend's Celica GTS even though he beat Grand Prix GTP and Contour SVT. I feel sorry for those guys who browse the web and write so much BS about the cars that they don't even own.
Oh, one more question, Dashley33, where did you get that Harada power antenna, how much was it and how hard was it to install?

Waz up Blue GT,

If there is another way I can post a pic..clue me in. You're right that website was a waste. I also have a another photo on the members gallery here. I got the antenna from Pep Boys for $60. I have a installer friend who put it in for $25. He just tinted my windows for a $100 and it looks great. I get compliments or stares just about everyday. I also had some fender lights like you would find on a Jetta installed. They each have 3 red LED's that blink when I turn on the turn signal. I purchased them from SharkRacing.com. I just ordered some clear bumber lights. I should be able to handle that one myself!

Wassup! You definitely need to lower your car. It will look nice sitting low on those 17's! Glad you got your tints. That's the first thing I do to my cars. Can't live without them, you know.
