2.0 swap in accent worth it?

I can get a brand new 2.0 beta egnine for around $450US w/ around 20k miles. and a manual tranny for about $200US w/ about same amount of miles. Is the change THAT noticable?? for people who have acheived this? And for people who have done this, does everything hook up? does it fit okay in there?

yes its worth it. do you have a 1.6L or 1.5L? if you have a 1.6L that makes the swap 50x easier. also check the hybrid forum there is alot of info there about the swap. its alot of custom work so no its not just drop in and drive off same day. but its not extremely hard. i had the alpha out and beta in in 3 days. then it took 2 weeks of troubleshooting.

btw a 20k engine isn't brand new. my beta had 15k for $350.

also you may want to consider keeping your alpha tranny.
The swap is way worth the effort. Its the best idea ever for the accent to gain more hp and opitions. Like turbo, a supercharger or even nitrous. I had picked my motor up for $350 with 6k on the clock and used the alpha tranny because it was so much easy using the alpha tranny.
i heard keeping the alpha tranny is good. What if he wants more power in the future??? can the alpha handle 250 whp and 290 torque from a proper turbocharged set-up??? I would like to get the complete swap done on my 1.6 auto. BUT i don't have the tools and i'd have to pay someone to do the swap
I got my beta engine for my scoupe with 6k on it for $325 and I have found a place for when I switch to the tib tranny that will make me new axles that are garented not to break for $185 each.
is it worth the money? Well, tally up all the mone you spent on the car and the money to spend on the swap. Than see what cars you could have bought. I did that.. and sold my car. =p I could of had a free motor swap from a company, but it still wouldnt of been fast as I wanted it to be.

So the end story is.. its your decision. Most people like it, but it may be too much time and money for certain people. :smoking:
the alpha tranny will bolt up to a beta engine? yea i kinda want to get this all figured out so i have some confedence when doing the swap if anyone has some info... my AIM is DriftingSable

Yes. The 1.6L tranny will bolt right up with the BetaII motor. Using a betaII flywheel of course.
isnt that heavier? or is that lighter.... sorry im an idiot, but im just starting to explore hyundai so

WERD! My $2300 MR2 will run circles around every bone stock beta swapped accent out there. NOTE that I said bone stock beta. I still appriciate my accent more though. But only because of the time and effort that went into it.

yeah, it'll slaughter me,
meh.. A 140hp beta motor isnt exactly somthing that will be really impressive unless you spend even more money on it. Go the forced induction route youll be much happier :D

But if you must have a beta.. id suggest sell up and buy a tiburon and strip it. It should weigh only slightly more.
Yeah, but everyone expects the tibby to be slightly fast. Hose some unsuspecting Integra at the track and walk away just that little bit taller.

One more reason to love my Beta, no body thinks its quick.
How about just rebuild the alpha and throw a turbo on it? It definatly would be cheeper. I know the beta is said to be able to handle a turbo w/OUTbeing rebuilt but you alpha is what came with the car. If your really want a beta, do what was said about buying a tib. try giving the alpha a shot. I mean if rediculously fast is what you want you wont get it from a hyundai, maybe the V6 Tiburon. I'm doing what vamp did. I'm going to save up to get another car. I'll always have my Accent but like you said it the feeling that everything you did to it is what got it to where it's at. That to me is more important than geting a 13 sec Qt Mile time, or beating some P.O.S integ....
If i had the money i'd be going to beta-turbo route. As vamp stated i have been thinkin about it alot, if i just bought a new car whether it be an srt-4, subaru wrx, or a 350z, or even an acura rsx, then i'd have more options. I love hyundai but with the money spent into it, I could have a new car with the same amount of money spent plus more power/ luxury options. We will see what i do in due time , and i will post up what i did.
honestly a swap around here costs 1000 max so going from 104hp to 140hp for that cheap is a ****ing good deal
well I was wondering how I can get a hold of a 2.0 Beta Engine. Sorry guys, just got into the world of Hyundai Tuning. I'm sitll very much a newbie! lol
Go to ebay. Dont pay more then $250 for it cause its a pretty common motor. Check also the LKQ web sight. Good luck.

OK, I'll bite. What kind of quarter are you running? Or, were you not being sarcastic?

I think he was being serious and supporting your statement. I didn't even read it as being sarcastic...
