I was thinking about an engine swap with a 2.0L, but since the new tib has a 2.7 I was wondering if anyone knew whether the the two engines had similar or the same dimensions. If they're the same do you think it would be a relatively easy swap? Thanks

the 2.7 will not fit. the brackets are all different. someone else can give you more info.

plus wouldn't it make the car REAL front heavy and wouldn't u have to do alot of custom work just to get that thing to fit inside an accent. it would cost u ALOT of money to do it. ALL CUSTOM

If it is at all possible it would cost tons of money and would not be worth it.

#1 The V tib is on the Sonata frame instead where the 4cyl is on the elantra frame so the engine mounts are different.

#2 The car would be extremely heavy in the front and would handle very sloppy.

#3 The 2.0 is a fairly tight squeezeinto the accent. I don't even know if the 2.7 would even fit if you could overcome reasons 1 and 2.

Why swap the 2.7L? You have more potential turboing the 2.0L.

I asked the KORE guy about that on AIM one night.. he said the firewall would have to go for one thing.. and wasn't sure if the bay was wide enough.. so the fender wells would have to go.. and prolly new frount supension cuz the strunt towers would prolly get moved around... Then can u imagine trying to get the clutch and shift cables to go right... but then if you go with an automatic whats the point? I would go 2.0 if i was gonna go Hybrid.

I've seen pics of XG motor in the rear trunk of an accent...bet it cost mucho deniro though

What swap?
2.0 beta swap?

aprox $1000 for engine, tranny, and ECU
aprox $250 for shipping
aprox $500 for labor on the install

You will probably want to also get the Tiburon axles and you may need to get then shortened a little. I am guessing this would run you about $250 for parts and labor.

Basically you can get a complete swap for about $2000+<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
