The 27th, I was out on the freeway heading to Layton, for those of you familiar with Utah.
It's a pretty nice stretch of freeway. But the Highway patrol is always out. Sitting in the median with all lights off. Very hard to spot until you are clocked that is.
Anyway, I hadn't raced for a long time, because the weather out here has been bad. Lots of ice and fog.
I had just gotten off work and was a bit restless and out for some fun while driving to exchange some gifts at the Layton Hills Mall.
I am going about 70 in the passing lane looking for the Highway Patrol. I look back and this 96 black civic with blue lights is coming up on my back.
I wasn't going to mess with him until I was sure I had passed the usual HP hiding place.
So, like a good driver, I slow down and let him pass. But, the ass wouldn't pass me. He just stayed head to head with me. This really makes me mad guys. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/mad.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>
I just chill and let him play his stupid game. Then I look to the side of me and another white 96civic pulling up to the side of me. The three of us are leaving the traffic behind us, so, I am tempted to show them who the road belongs to.
We pass the usual HP hiding spot, and I decide to kick it. The white civic couldn't keep up with us after 75. He was left behind to eat our asphault. Poor Kid. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/cry.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>
I kick it up to 90 and say bye bye to Mr. Black Civic. Yes, IR2 does get a little cocky after a race, so, I get back into the passing lane, slow it down to 80. And get on my cell phone to share my excitement.
As I am talking, I decide to get into the middle lane just incase the HP was up ahead.
I signal, and just as I am about to switch lanes, guess what I see...
Good old Mr. Highway Patrol, right in front of me. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
If you know me well, you know I hardly ever swear, Well, they all came exploding out of my mouth like fireworks. Especially my least favorite F word. I passed him going about 78. The limit is 65. My heart was pounding even harder than before.
I slowed it down to 60-65, with all intentions of being pulled over. I got into the slow lane and kept looking behind me.
Other cars start to pass. Where the hell is he?
So, just to be safe I keep it under 70 until my exit comes. Still no HP. I was shocked!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
Maybe he was sleeping on the job or something??? I consider myself Lucky!
