Don't tell my car that! I have 168000km on the clock and no trouble yet...mind I bought it at 65000km so it may have been changed by then if I am lucky (and I'm not!). Then again I change gears at 3000rpm so it does not get stretched too often eh.

yes, it is. I had to replace the engine on my last 1.5L when the belt snapped at 99K. You definately want to get the timing belt replaced at the recommended time (60K).
