Coupla questions for y'all...

1)Hoes does one remove the plastic grill covering the front door speakers? It doesn't look like it pry's off.

2)How big a speaker can i fit in the rear deck? I'm thinking a 6x9 is the largest. How does one make a custom bracket to hold said speakers? There doesn't seem to be much room.

3)How does one get the front panel where all the HVAC controls are located completely off? I know to disconnect the knobs and clock, but there is like a little tray that holds the control assemblies in the dash that won't come out. BTW, i'm trying to get to the preout on my radio.

they don't pry off... and don't try. you have to remove the entire door panel.

ok on here, I had to call the technician at my dealership... of course were very helpful, no really, and they told me... look under the dash above the pedals you got lines(2) going to the actual mechanism for the air controls... these are clipped in place by clips each line has a clip, they are pretty easy to take off. Once that's done, good job, might not work. If it doesn't then just take the line off the mechanism (be careful to not make the ring-type end too big or it won't fit back). Now you'll notice, three controls, three lines, where's the thrid one?? passenger side. behind the glove box. Again you gotta fit into a tiny space... and un hook. That should give you plenty of space to get to the pre-amps! And the antena wires. Maybe it's different with A/C tho.

On a side note, did you decide where you were going to run the wires????

YOU GOTTA REMOVE THE WHOLE MOTHER ****ING DOOR!?!?!?

Goddamnit. I guess i'll wait untill i finsh the interior to change those.
I don't want them in a box, i want them in the stock location, hell i'd be happy with 6.5"'ers. I need the trunk space.
I was gonna run the power cable through the drivers side (hopefully) and the RCA(?) cables under the carpet throught the center console to the trunk.

Knocker is right do not try to take the center console out without disconnecting the HVAC controls they break very easily. I had my alarm installed and the place that took the center console out for the LED didn't undo the controls and therefore they put too much tension on the cables. When I went to use the one of the knobs I heard a crack and then the knob moved freely. Anyways just take your time.

ehehehehehe

yep yep, the whole door panel buddy!
For the wires... I ran them under the car along with the fuel lines + brake lines!! I then went through a rubber stopper type thing, boy was I glad to see that, to my AMP... then the RCAs on the drivers' side under the plastic doorsill and hidden under the rest of the plastic stuff.

How do u figure going from inside the car to the batery without the leakage issue (say u'd drill a hole)...???????????? if u have a good idea, I'll re-run mine.

Hey Knocker, just a quick question since everyone is talking about accent sound systems... My fiancee has a 2k1 accent GS, and I wanted to put a new head unit in her car. But the radio is that funny round shape. Will a regular HU fit there, or do I have to get something custom for it? Or do I have to cut the dash to make it fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

Peace

There should be a rubber grommet in the driver's side footwell by the fuse box. Same on the passenger side, minus the fusebox. Thats where u run the wires. there are no leakage issues, at least none i noticed in my old car.
