In case there is any confusion on this subject, the PT Cruiser was Car of the Year 2001...the T-Bird is the

Cruiser and I were playing road tag
in and out of slower traffic, nothing serious, just follow the leader..until he got some crazy idea that his car of the year was...FAST?? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> I know what my Elantra can and cannot do, so I mind my manners with the big boys. There was a van in the center lane at the red light. I went to the left, PT went to the right lane. We weren't visable to each other...the van was well forward. Next thing I know Cruiser-boy is surging out on the faintest hint of green. He caught me off guard, but I caught and passed him at the top of 2nd gear..around 5000 rpms. I opened it
up to four car lengths when he decided to go back to "cruising".<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>

Hmmmmm. Motor Trend and Road & Track give 8.6 and 8.9 respectively. R & T
gives 8.4 for the 2001 Elantra GLS...so does Consumer Guide. The times for the auto PT are much slower...over 10 seconds I believe. A cool car though if your into a Retro look..multifunctional. BTW, I've seen 8.1 for the Tib in Car & Driver.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
