Well my Elantra has 5500 miles on it and my check engine light came on today! How do I reset it without taking it to the stupid dealer?

You can't. With 5500 miles, the dealer should do a diagnosis/reset for free under warranty.

Your check engine light could be something as simple as a loose gas cap. I've heard the check engine light could take a couple of tank fills to reset after that.

Well I was hoping I could disconnect the battery or something. I made a huge mistake buying this car fron a certain dealer and really hate taking it there at all! The only other Hyundai dealer is about 40 miles from the one I bought it from though! The last time I brought my car there for a routine check up it had less than 3000 miles on it and I had to wait for 3 hours. The service there stinks and the people are jerks.
