Anyone have thoughts about how difficult it would be to get disc brakes installed on the rear wheels of the 2001 GSi model (Canadian)?

As an afterthought .. what about installing an ABS system to go along with the new brakes?

If getting discs put on the rear wheels would it make sense to get some performance brakes and upgrade all 4 at once (probably, huh?), or could the rears be matched to the factory front discs.

The rears (and actually all the brakes) can be swapped for Tiburons discs, but nobody outside of Ozland or Korea has done it yet. That will be one of my projects in the next 6 months.

nice one.
i look forward to hearing about your progress.
realizing that going with 4-wheel discs is likely overkill for the stock Accent engine, i wonder when upgrading the engine and such where the power/weight ratio would be such that you could actually need the disc brakes for high performance driving :)

When you're planning my other upcoming major mod. Swapping in a tibby motor .

This may be true on the X3(96-99) but what about the LC(2K+)? The rotors would have to be re-drilled if everything else bolted up.

Good point. I complete forgot about that.

For the LC Accent you wouldn't be able to do this swap unless you were willing to swap out the whole hub and possibly suspension components. I'll have to check on this (as soon as I find an LC Accent in Vegas ).

Remember, the LC Accent has a 4x100 bolt pattern while all other Hyundais have a 4x114.3. Good catch Jeff!
