shhhhiiittt.. unless its a VR4 yes! those things are big slow possers without the turbo. I could take on and take out a base model and i know a tib can take an SL.. my freinds Grand AM Gt spanked one repeatedly.. and they guy was talkin all sortza **** so i know he was trying.. all show no go (the VR4 would spank a tib though)

Yeah, I agree sort of with WytchDctor. The 3000GT is a relatively heavy car and is not an impressive performer when equipped with the N/A version of the 3.0L, but a big slow poser? I don't know. They look nice...check. They sound nice...check. They are a Mitsubishi product...check. Ok there's 3 things in their favour, I would take one any day of the week if some one offered me one. And the VR4 version..... I think my heart stopped beating thinking about that one. It is actually the first car that I ever really noticed and fell for, it was the car that began the obsession that now controls my life, cars.

Uncheck that mitz thing. I don't know what in the hell that company is thinking.. makeing a 2.0liter sports car that can get beat buy a nissan pickup.. come on.. and there 200hp v6 tieing to 60 with a 140 i4? Did they slow that thing down on purpose? I know modded they are fast... but why does mitz find it in there best intrest to make slow stock cars for the most part? Its beyond me.

BTW did i say an automatic elantra could take out an SL 3000gt?... no. From what in know an auto elantra/tib is about the same as my 5spd... and i can't beat him (The Grand AM)... soo maybe so maybe not.

Ok I owned a 93 3000gt SL and I must say you have a very good chance on beating an SL or the base model. They have some good horse power but the weight holds them back alot I'm almost sure you will take him 0-60 but as the 1/4 mile gets closer so will he.

i dunno about an automatic J2/coupe outrunning any 3Kgt..... then again i dont know af any auto import thats even remotely fast (excluding drag cars) the TCC in these things blows the powerband to ****.....as well as the tacky rev limiter coming in @ 6K i dunno....if you can get your auto j2/coupe in the powerband and somehow find a way to get around the 15-25% drivetrain loss of HP/Kw and then you'll be cookin with gas.

Are you people on crack? You have a tiburon, dont even bother, if the guy has a 3000GT, dont even bother, save the embarassment, and for whoever said they beat a 3000gt, did they even race you?

On average the base and SL model 3000Gt's times are around .1 seconds slower than a 5-speed Tiburon 0-60 and .1 faster in the quarter mile and the top end is way above a Tibby's. So like I said up till the quarter mile mark it could go both ways mostly depending on the driver but as soon as you pass the $.25 path you might as well hang it up. And if you happen to have a automatic, like Aeromaks said save yourself the embarrassment.

I'll probably race him this weekend, yeah i have an automatic, but i think it drives really well and i dont think it deserves all the bad rap it gets :p I think i have good chances, partly because he's the worst stick driver ive ever been with. When he changes gears the whole car kicks back, its hillarious.

watch out in md there is a guy with an 3000sl from altered atmosphere that is running a 12 on street tires. has a custom single turbo upgrade still running stock compression which is like 11:1 or something crazy and he's running 8 pounds dynoing at 300+ hp at the wheels. This is the only one i've seen to this caliber just watch out so you don't get disapointed.
