Well its hard to go to the underground races in Orlando now with out getting busted so me and my friend decided to hit the legal race way for a change. He only raced once because he has a slipping clutch but he pulled off a mid 13 second run against a Corvette. (He drive a 90 300zx TT 375whp) I went after him against another Tiburon. Choopi I believe. From what I can tell engine wise he was stock except for new spark plugs, the removal of his resonator and the removal of the spare tire and equipment from the hatch. I have a MPH CAI and that's it I also out weigh him by 25 to 30lbs. Results are as follows:
**First Race**

Man it was very fun I can't wait to do it again. To give you proof of the runs I will have to give the slips to my friend with the 300zx to scan them. Or you can ask Choopi. But I have a few questions. The 1st race I had a cool engine and so did he and though I won the race the only thing that did it was my reaction time during this race I power shifted through every gear never taking my foot off the gas. The 2nd race he had a cool engine and mine was very warm and I shifted normally. Is the weight difference that big of a deal? Also I have removed my face gauges and I don't believe that the needle is set properly what rpm should a 2001 Tiburon idle at if fully warmed up? And what point should I shift at through each gear power shifting and or regular shifting? I would say it was about 70 to 75 degrees out and very humid as it tends to be in Florida.

I've tried various shifting and pedal-work techniques, some things seem to work, others just make you
FEEL like your going faster. Lately
I was trying "power shifting" (no lifting off) for a day or two...out in the sticks...not really sure if its faster. Probably a lot harder on the car.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> I finally settled on lifting off the gas a lil, taking care not to dump the rpms. A launch
around 2000 or 2500 rpms seems to work best for me. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Yeah..I'll vouch.. that was fun as hell.. REALLY REALLY Messed up to see a Tib next to me at the top of the track.. LOL Damn the guy that conrtols who runs.. He will let us sit for like 4-5 minutes and tease us abouit when we are going.. LOL That is why both of our cars were hot as hell..

Either way.. I will be there again On Wednesday.. :)

No dout, I'm going to try to get out there again this wednesday and I think some of my friends might come as well. It looks like the same 300zx and Corvette will be there plus a 240sx, 2 civics, and mabey a f-150. LOL It should be fun. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
