In BC, Canada. 2003 and up Vehicles are exempt from Aircare tests. (YES! exempt since 2003 thru 2006. 4 years, hope no body went and did it:)

This sounds weird to me because 2002 Accents and 2003 Accents has the same Engines (GSi or GT Model). Basically the same car except the exterior.

What do you guys think?

yes, the "G4ED" 1.6L DOHC Litre alpha II is the top spec in any LC accent..from 2001 to 2005..so a alpha 2 equipped with a manual Regular LC will have same output of GT in acceleration

i think even the new 2006 accent has the same engine just with CVVT..

Yes, that's what i wondered about!

Since all the 1.6L from 01 - 05 has the same engine.
Why only 2003 has been exempted for the past 3 years and 4th year coming.
But the 2001 or 2002 were never exempted
