I feel your pain dude!

I've been waiting for the V6 6-speed to come to Canada. I have had it on order by the dealership for monthes and monthes now!!

But they haven't had even the opportunity to put their name down in the pool at the docks for the GS-R

I agree that the 2003 does make the 2000 feel like a pinto. I have to admit I was going to purchase a new 2003 fully loaded this past Sat. But when I test-drove it I have to admit it wasn't all that. Like I've posted already I turned my Tib in for a Saab 9-3 SE Turbo.
Now that made even the 2003 Tib feel like is drove a 1994 elantra or even worse a go-cart.

Oh, quit your crying. The docks are right here in Vancouver (Richmond, actually), and we're STILL going to be pretty much the last ones in Canada to get the V6s.

Are you the guy that bought the silver automatic one from Lithia for 27 grand?

I'm in Fresno too. I've talked to Maxx a couple of times. I'm pretty sure I saw you driving your new tib around the other day.

If the guy you saw was mid-twenties pale with
buzzed off blonde/red hair (stubble really) that would be T.J. The car is silver, but I think he told me that he paid 23,000 for it. Lithia wanted more but the banks would not finance it at a higher price. I think Lithia could tell that T.J. was really wanting to be the first V-6
Tib owner and kicked the price up to capitalize on that fact...till the banks said "no". The
new Unorthodox pulley should be installed on MY car tommorrow if all goes well...I'm going to Sebring West to look for the belts...then maybe I'll get T'J to race me
..just for sh*ts and giggles. Hows your car?

Okay, here is my gripe. The new tib is cool and all but...

I got my 2k1 tib because it was the most stylish, powerful, and resonably prices vehicle its class... (plus they made a rally car out of it)

The new tib is just another v6 3000lbs. car. Whoo hoo(dripping with sarcasim). but this would be cool still if the performance for dollar was still as good as the 96-2k1 tibs.
There is a car manufacturer called ford (that the majority of everything they make doesnt have very good reliability records) that makes a car called a mustang GT (this vehicle however has a bullet proof engine and drive train and can handle quite a super charging with out modification). This car makes 260 hp and 300+ft.lbs. and look very aggressive. (yes they do make altezza tail lights for it so the rice boys can be happy too). But the best part is it: it's only like $1-2k more than the new tib. and only weighs like 250 more lbs. Plus they handle wonderfully (53f/47r wieght dist.)

I would encourage all v6 tib owners to pick a race with a 4.6 litre mustang and experience humilation. I dont know i was hoping for a little more than what we got from hyundai this time. after i drove the v6 tib, i almost cried from anti-climax. Normally, i am pro import, pro hyundai but more than that I am pro performance. chrome and pretty stuff doesnt excite me. I just want to be fast and loud. Turning heads means nothing. Hyundai lost me on this venture my next one will be domestic im afraid.

Sort of a disclaimer:
out of all the import 3000lbs v6 n/a sport coupes in the world i would prolly pic the tib.

Well Sorry bout that red2k1tib But before I bought My 2003 Tib I had a 2000 Tib. Before the 2k tib I had a 1994 T-bird with the V-8 running at 225 HP and what I tell you now that the 94 t-bird had a better motor than that shitstang. It was the #1 the motor frm FORD and didn't last as long as the Asian/euro motors did. Now I tell ya now is the T-Bird had a better driveshaft than the stang cause of the **** steel they had in it compared to the aluminum that the t-bird. And the t-bird was a heavier car. When I took a 2k LS8 for a drive I took a 99 GT Cobra on and he couldn't even get into 1st gear from the light and I was gone 2 car lenghts infront of him with an auto. course the guy probbaly didnt know what he had under the hood, didnt meen that he coulda taken a 252hp lincoln, Now im not shittin on the 2003 that I just traded my 2000 tib in for, there are some features I like in the new 03. some examples: I had the auto yes it sucked but what can you do when you have screwed up legs! the V6 with the Shiftronic for the more sportier feel. In all reality what I see is if you properly tune an Auto you can do or even better than a manual tansmission. In my own opionion just wait a couple months and see what we 2003's are talking bout, we will make your head spin when the mods come out. Look at the turbos with the Beta engines most of you would die for them to make that HP, Emagine with the V6's what they would do!

went down the the hyundai dealer and i knew one of hte guys there and i got to test drive the new 2003 gt it has to be faster then 2000's and 8.2 what they are claiming....the torque on this thing is rediculous!! i loved it and when i got back into my 2000 it felt like a gokart in comparison!! it is an awsome car but a little out of my price range!! its nice though.

Wow RedTib. You and I live in two different car universes. I understand what your saying, but to me performance has to be more than
fast and loud. What about handling and taking the twisties? Even if I could afford a Viper, for instance, with the 460 hp power it provides, I wouldn't want it. Where is the challenge? If I rolled out on the roadways in some mega-horsepower, torque monster I'd get bored.
Most cars wouldn't race me. If they did the result would be a foregone conclusion To me it's a lot more exciting and interesting to take a sleeper (like a little 4 banger sedan) and totally surprise
people. When you know you will often be out-matched in HP you have to rely and finesse, skill and the element of surprise. That's what I'm talking about. Adrenaline and concentration or you lose. A Formula Firebird or Mustang Cobra would be a hoot at the track, but what would I do between trips to the track? On regular streets against average cars? No one but other muscle cars would provide competition, and even stop-light get-aways wouldn't be that safe when
100 mph comes up in 13 seconds. By all means go for whatever puts a smile on your face...I just don't think I'd be smiling much without
the extra challenge. My .02 cents

Yes it does rock. I used to own a 98fx and the difference between the two is night and day. Whoever said that the 03 v6 is slow, well, maybe it's just them being ticked off that they just bought an 01 or something I don't know. I loved my 98 but there is just no comparison. The fit and finish is unbelievable. The torque is there in every gear. It's fast. It handles extremely well. I put a k&n drop in filter and it's even better. I will be taking out all the resonator crap (see hyundai parts extranet pictures) and it will be even better. The transmission is awesome. The engine note makes me want to cream my pants (not helping my gas mileage). You don't have to turn off the a/c to get power. You can cruise at 40mph in fifth gear and not even notice the engine struggle. 2nd gear is bad ass. I don't have to drop oodles of money into mods and **** with my warranty to have good useable power. Only downside, tires are more expensive, but then again everyone with a 97-01 ends up upgrading to 17's anyway, so your in the same boat in that respect anyway. Not knocking anyone with the older tibs at all (I had one and loved it) but some of the hate posts on the new tib just don't make sense unless it's out of frustration that it wasn't out when they bought theirs. I was ticked off when I bought my 98 that the ten year warranty came out 2 months after I got mine but I got over it. The warranty is one of the reasons that I got the 03. I am paying more a month now but from the moment I took delivery and drove the first block away it was worth every penny. I'm not into illegal street racing either, I like my drivers license too much so I'm not shitting myself about some tool in a civic roasting my ass either. I would rather Autocross than street race anyday.

Hey t-bird boy i am terrible sorry that you wasted 21 grand on a slow korean car. the mustang gt will smoke its ass, no problem... And if you are about to stand there and tell me that the 2.7 is a more dependable motor than the 4.6 you are as stupid as i think you are. Actually what I am saying to you, i hope you enjoy how pretty your car is... cuz thats all it is... because every domestic sports car with a similar price is going to straight *uck your *hit up. Hey red2k1tib the reason I bought a hyundai is #1 way better warannty than Ford will ever have, But im NOT pissing on a the stangs that they are crap. Look at the sticker prices once and a while. Last time I checked the stang GT with 225hp 5 speed with some options are way over priced! Can I say! 35k - 45k CAD. To me all your paying for is a shitty suspension that isnt even 4wheel independant. Tha stangs go fast but only straight, Ford and all the american companies are losing so much money because of the smart people buying imports. All I can say is my friend is on the A Plan with Ford and gets damn cheap cars from them. now for someone buying Fords all their lives and turning around and saying Ford Cars are going down hill with service and quality thats pretty sad! He had a 2k LS8 and paid close to 60k for it and for a luxury car with runs in the paint also had to have all the rubber seals changed in the car cause they leaked. 60K for a frigging luxuary car that came from the factory that was screwed!. Now sorry if I have offended all the Ford fans but if Ford was the last car company in the world selling cars I'd chose to walk before I drove 1

My 2cents

redtib, the point you're missing is the great handling of the new Tiburon. I took it through one of the canyons here (full write up coming soon) and I seriously couldn't break the tires loose. It was a 100% stock 2003 Tiburon V6/6-speed. Sure, its not as fast as the Mustang, but that's what aftermarket parts are for. The actual build of the car is far superior to that of a Mustang. Ask anybody that owns a Mustang or Firebird, it's a $20,000 engine in a $10,000 car. Hell, they have more squaks and rattles than my 1995 Accent did.

Get off your soap box and realize there is MUCH more to a car's performance than power, but then again, if you're a drag racer then you haven't opened your eyes up to *true* performance from a car.

Agreed, looking at power is not only the thing in a performance vehicle....

I've ridden in T.J.'s V-6 Tib. It aint slow. It has all the speed and acceleration needed to satisfy MOST performance car enthusists from what I could tell. There will always be someone conducting a pissing contest...That's not fast! Check out my funny-car! Funny cars aren't fast
check out my fighter plane! etc. The Tib has more to offer than just raw
speed...build quality and fit&finish
trump the Mustang. Still,
compared to 80% of the cars on American roads the V-6 Tib is fast.
