First off, welcome to the site.

Secondly, most of the dealerships so far have been completely clue-less in regards to the new tiburon. Take great stock in Rob's words, hell he's even seen one.

The reason most dealerships are clueless when it comes to Hyundai (especially release dates) is that Hyundai doesnt' tell us anything. We didn't know when the Santa Fe was going to be released until about 2 days before. Dealerships are only the distributor, its HMA who doesnt tell anyone what's going on.

Your best bet for pretty reliable info is this and the other Hyundai performance sites

To be honest, Hyundaiperformance.com and fxtreme.org is the source of all my dealership information.

Its funny when you know more then the sales staff and they are usually like 'holy crap' where did you get that info.

I will agree with 4doorGL, late Jan early Feb. I got a call a couple days ago that the official orders and reservations are being made right now here in Canada. Its nothing big, but usually its done before the actual shipping phase.

Yeah you know how it is…….
It feels like having someone pulling a dollar on a string.
Each time you reach for it, its farther away.

For anyone that cares the silver '03 showcar will be at the North American International (Detroit) Autoshow this year. Too bad the only night you get to sit in it is the Charity Preview and most people won't have tickets (I do though, I'll let you all know what its like inside) my dealer has 19 cars going to be displayed in the show and he told me that the car that will be there will be the US production version. Let me know what I should check for to clear up all the different rumors.

One thing I want you to check.

Look under the passenger side a/c vent and see if the cup holder is there. I've seen 5 different 2003 Tib's, and some had it, some didn't.

The Autoshow Answers

3 Blanks Buttons
No Phone Feature
No Traction Control
No Heated Seats
None of the models there have the sun roof so I dont know if its glass or plastic, I'll ask
Infiniti Car Audio, CD/Cassette Doube DIN in the Dash
Sub in the Trunk
6 Speed Available at launch
No Gauges-replaced by the double DIN radio
$20,000-22,000 for top of the line, Hyundai still hasn't released the prices to the USA, this I got from the head of US Sales
Dark tints on the lights, actually it looks like the silver/clear pieces have been filled in with a dark gray plastic to force them to project forward better

At NAIAS they have 2 there, the Silver one thats been making the circuit and the Red aftermarket one, no signs of the the orange/white APC car

I stood around the car for like 15 minutes before the head of sales came over to talk to me, today are still setup days for the show so everyone is a little busy. I asked about the new customs section of the website and he had no idea what the plans for that is yet, looks like they will announce to the dealers the same time they announce to us.

BTW- the new Maserati Spyder roadster is really really nice, they haven't officially unveiled it yet but I saw them driving it into the place today. Whats the deal with all these companies releasing Spyders anyways.

All right, theres the update, let me know if there is anything else you want me to find out, looks like there might be some intellgent people down there afterall

What a rip! I don't see why heated seats and traction control couldn't be options here in the US.
I'm looking for a new "Dailly Driver" car and living in Denver, CO those are options I'm looking for in a new car. Especially at the $20-$22k price range.

You can even get traction control on a Ford Taurus. I would like to at least hear a reason from the Hyundai folks of why do we get less of a car.

I hope those missing options come at least as an option on future model years....

One answer of why they might not bring those options is... perhaps it costs them more money to service or ship the necessary parts for the options over here to the states... just my 15 cents...
