"Which Accent would you adopt from Hyundai? The silly French one, or the three-door version just added to the Accent lineup? Hyundai's showing its latest new vehicle at SEMA this week, and it's a new hatchback spun from the new four-door Accent's platform. The new three-door comes in either GS or SE trim, Hyundai says, both of which come with six airbags standard as well as anti-lock brakes with EBD. The Accent's 1.6-liter four will produce 110 horsepower (estimated) and the SE model will wear 16-inch alloy wheels with 45-series tires. A power sunroof, a high-watt audio system and even an iPod holder will be available on the new vehicle. Pricing hasn't been announced yet."

Nooooooooo!!!!!

Better looking than the 4 door by a lot but if this is as close as they come to the SR people need fired. 110 hp 1.6l? Nooooooo! Plain-Jane styling? Nooooo!!!! I sure hope the SR still comes out as a seperate model. Otherwise I'm putting a tape measurer on a Theta and looking under my LC2's hood. Or possibly looking to another make to get my performance fix.

It's not an ugly car by any means just not what I was looking for after the SR concept.

but stil..if hyundai could dish up a hyped up hatchback like honda did with it's EP3 Si Hatchback..it's be a major hit and people wouldn't be so nasty and BS'd up about hyundai like they used too..
look at the neon srt-4..before it..nobody payed attention to the stock neon that much cause it was "a domestic Compact"...and now look what happened when th art-4 came..it changed the way frugal Kid's thought abut neon's and that' why it's in game's and stuff.

For the bigger scheme of things this toned down Accent is a smarter idea, not everyone want s a tuned looking car. This one will keep the masses happy who simply need a good car that gets themn from a - b and doesn't cost a fortune. If Hyundai built the Accent all tuned they would have the problem the H3 is having and eventually the pool of people who want a car like that would dry up. A polarizing look is a good thing but people still want to customize it themselves. I do hope though for Hyundai's sake they release a performance version of this car that looks a little more agressive like the concept. Overall I say it is a big improvement over the previous versions.

About 5-6 posts down are links to lots more pics of the 3rd accent. The rear end for some reason really reminds me of that daewoo...hatchback...thingy. Dont remember its name. I suppose this model will grow on me eventually as most do(the lc2 still dosent appearl to me), but I'll hold out in hopes of the SR.

And if no SR...I'll just go find me a used nice condition lc 5spd and have fun with it

Well, this thing has grown on me, and if the Accent SR gets nixed I'll probably buy one and either give it to the wife and take the LC2 or tune this one. If they have cool enough stuff available for it I'll keep it for myself though.

WTF? Hyundai finally relized that people were "tuning" their Accents and now offer 35 options for it? Again WTF? Where were they 2-3-4 years ago when it started. Now I may just have to buy a new one so I can have things I want instead of waiting around for someone to fabricate a POS body kit.

I think this will look better in person too. It will be a great car but they really need to release the SR. I have heard that Hyundai won't release the SR Accent until the Tiburon goes upscale because they don't want an Accent out performing the Tiburon.

^^Good point. Release the 2008 RWD Tiburon in late 2006 as a 2008 model.:

I e-mailed Hyundai requesting they produce the SR. I suggest everyone else who wants it to get produced does the same. It never hurts for them to hear that there is real genuine interest in getting it produced.
