BADASS!!!
Awesome!
are you sure it's not a toyota corolla commercial?
Holy crap....I hope it sounds that damn good in real life!!!
Sick as! I love the body shape; I dont think I'll be able to sleep tonight without dreaming of how to modify it!
No horsepower upgrade on this car,
still the anemic stock from 138HP Beta eh?

No wonder it's the butt of joke's from jeremy clarkson and May,

when is hyundai ever gonna up the power of their compact car's ever??
they released the MC Accent and the FD Elantra and it still retains the exact same anemic engines. the lousy 1.6L and the Decade old 2.0L

I reckon they will raise power substantialy when young drivers in 250hp cars don't incure excess premiums; the insurance would turn younger drivers away from the marque, and that is not what Hyundai wants.
and the insurance doens't know about the "illegal engine" in my accent and they terminated my Policy..

Hyundai has been using the same engines for over a decade and I don't think it is a concern over insurance premiums. If it were Suzuki Aerios would not come with stock with 155 hp. I think it is Hyundai's attempt at maximizing profit. Forget about a new design that would maximize power, how about fuel economy? Hyundai, or any other manufacturer for that matter, can't design a 1.6 liter engine that gets a minimum of 40mpg? Don't kid yourself. It all comes down to the fact they don't want to spend the $$$ .

I disagree with the point you made about Hyundai just not wanting to spend the money to develop new engines or mess with the current ones. IMO, they are just following the centuries-old theory,"If it ain't broke--don't fix it." Hyundai is known to make some of the most reliable cars in the world, and the fact that they have very successfully used the Alpha and the Beta engines for the past 10-15 years supports that reputation greatly. Sure, they could throw the Beta in the new Accent and the Delta in the new Elantra, but then where do the respectful prices go? Up. And what is Hyundai known for? Extreme reliability for an extremely low price. They're already kicking ass with the new Sonata and Azera.
Toyota did the same thing with their engines. I think this new Elantra will be awesome.
[body]an extremely low price[/body]
Hyundais are not so cheap anymore. 2006 elantras are stickered at 17,000. That is well into civic territory asnd I hate to say it the civic beats the elantra hands down.

If you haven't noticed the prices for all cars are going up not just hyundai. The elantra isnt meant to compare to the civic its more towards the accord and camry, the accent is more towards the civic which is far cheaper
I always thought the sonata was the accord and camry fighter not the elantra. The elantra was always compared to the civic, sorry. In 2001 I my 2000 Elantra GLS stickered at $12,400. Now if I were to buy the same car $17,000, crazy! Same engine, same tranny. Give me a break!

WTF is your point VW has been using pretty much the same 4 cylinder engine with minor tweaks in their cars since 1974 (If you actually research it it has roots all the way back to 1969) Its a case of if it works this good why fu(k with it...

Look at the new Accent SR close to 200hp turbo beta thats a really hot looking car full factory warranty. Hyundai is trying to change their position in the marketplace from "that cheap korean manufactuer" but doing innovative things and trying to keep up with the Toyotas and other "top tier" automotive manufactuer its not easy to change minds and you'll never satisfy everyone but I think their doing ok. With the rate Mitsubishi America is going down the tubes leaves not a whole lot of choices if you want cool somewhat affordable asian cars
My point is 17,000 for an Elantra is too much money. Plain and simple.
pricing scheme borrowed from del [email protected]#

but i would pay 17 for a turbo 2.4L accent
wow!!!....i love it.....that center console is awsome....
