YUP........ A 2 PAGE SPREAD.......times are slow though :-( so the current tib will most likely be able to take the base 2k3...... so the performance order will be: (based on my best guesses)

2k3 v6 6 speed..... approx 15.6
2k3 v6 auto..........approx 16.2
2k-2k1 5 speed.....approx 16.3
2k3 5speed...........approx 16.5
2k-2k1 auto..........approx 16.8
2k3 auto...............approx 17.1

Not just the current Tib. The current Elantra has come in with 16.3 and, I hear, a 16 flat or two. I think we're gonna have to wait and see what the new v-6 manual Tib can do though... estimates are just that, and initial track times are often bettered.

Haha... I didnt like the style of the 2003, not only that, but mid 15s arent very impressive... I should hit mid 15s with approx $500 worth of mods... ;) I'll keep my gen1 and live a better life

I think the 2K3 V6 6-speed should have similar times as this car.

1992-1994 VW Corrado 2.8L V6 5-speed
178hp 177lbs-ft 2808lbs

2003 Hyundai Tiburon 2.7L V6 6-speed
181hp 177lbs-ft ~2900lbs (dont have the exact number handy)

I think thats PRETTY DAMN CLOSE! Only a 3hp difference and ~100lbs. What the Tiburon loses in a take off due to weight, is made up with a short 1st gear due to the 6-speed. Down side is, there will be probally be 2 shifts to get to 100km/h (60 mph).

So well 1/4 mile times will be very similar I think.

VW Corrado 6.8 / 15.3

So Tiburon give or take 0.1 in the 1/4 cause I think gearing is what will make this car faster or slower then the Corrado (also Tiburon has a 8 years worth of technology gone into it over the Corrado).

Then I think when you redo the intake and exhaust maybe some headers, I would say 15.0-15.2.

hey, by the way, does the article have any reviews or is it just the performance figures?

Concept, the v6 six speed, will be very responsive to engine upgrades, a cold air intake alone will add around 15 hp, with a exhaust you looking around 200 or more hp. BTW drew. A good intake is what? 200 dollars? a exhaust is what? 200 or more maybee? thats 400 dollars giving your 200 or more hp. What are you gunna get with your 500 dollars, NOS? You came stock with 140 hp if you run nitrous say 50 shot thats what ,140+50= 190 Crank? He will still beat ya my friend, remember you still have that limiter in ya car, even if you have a clutch, he torque on that 2003 is just unbelieable.

i think this is one of the most unscientific and innacurate explanations i've ever seen about horsepower gains

ima vw lover myself, and i seriously doubt that the new tibby can keep up with a corrado

the corrado is a sports car, and its german.. which means they arent going to take any bullshit shortcuts... i have my bets that the gearing and the vw's ability to put the hp to the wheels is superior to the tiburon

i think hyundai has the engineers to put out a performance car, but like its been said before, TOO MANY SHIRTS

lol, one thing i can guarentee, vw's tranny wont crap out on ya with motherfuckin 30k miles

Like I said though 8 years.

In 8 years, looking at all the advancements, I think Hyundai is where VW was 8 years ago. Thats why I made the comparison

boyfriend huh? har har har
while your out gaybashing, ima be at your house, ****ing your girlfriend in the ass

you can get a gti for 18 thou, which is just as much as a new gt

i think the statement about hyundai's engineering position is wrong...... hyundai has amazing potential in the performance market proven by their concept cars... they have 240 horse turbocharged 2.0L betas, so obviously they CAN make a sports car.... but its the shirts that are holding them back

now with the new srt-4 neon comming out, hyundai needs get their ass in gear
the neon's turbo 4 pulls 60 in 5.9 secs and its a $20k car........and dodge now has that 7 year /100k mile powertrain warrenty so i think they are going to be kicking some ass in the sport compact car arena.. the only thing gay about that car are the horribly ugly wheels

one thing i give props to the tibby is the SEATS.............those RECAROS are amazing, i wonder if you can order cloth versions that will fit in other hyundai's cars... example, my 99 elantra

If you listen closely to the ads, they have an "available" 7/100K warranty. You pay extra for it.
