the Mitsubishi VR4 1.6 Turbo, if i'm not mistaken (at least in Asia, that is...dunno about the states)....whatever the model is, the engine is turbocharged, and depending on model, produces 200, 220 or a smoking 240 horses on the top of the line VR4 RS...dunno whether it fits in the excel, but i'm pretty sure it fits under the Tib....there's at least one Tib in Malaysia that's got an Mitsubishi Evo engine underneath the hood....FWD with 280 horses!...generally, the last generation coupe, S-coupe, and Accent can take any Mitsubishi engine with the code 4G, i think<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>.....your excel should also have a Mitsu engine that can fit into it....most of Hyundai's early cars are have mounting points based on Mitsubishi's engine.....anyway, hoped that little info can help!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

How would you get 280 horsepower out of that engine? This is getting more exciting all the time. I can't wait to build my excel this summer<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

some 4g63t engines come stock with 280 hp. i know the vr4 does but don't thik it'll fit. try a search on yahoo or even on here. i just typed in 4g63t on yahoo when i was thinking about making the swap and got alot of pages just from that. www.tpautomotive.com/vshopping/mitsubishi.htm that'll give you a quick idea of the engines. i think the hp. goes from like 150 all the way up to 280 depending on which one you want. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

I really want to put a 4g63t in my 92 Excel this summer too. Does anybody have any info on how much the entire thing would cost? And where I could get an ECU for this engine at a good price? Any info would be appreciated. [email protected]

thanks<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

4g63t came on the eclipse/talon/galant in north america. They were 190 hp for the 90-94 version and 210 hp for the crappier 2g 95+ . JDM verison with the cyclone intake manifold is rated at 220 hp.

But getting those engines to 280hp is not that hard at all. Thats doable on the stock 14n turbo. Fuel pump upgrade, good exhaust, intake filter, hacked MAF,boost at 18-19 psi and ur are pretty much there.

Swapping it in the excel is doable but will cost mad cash. Specialy with wiring> If you did that you will be best off getting a stand alone fuel/electric unit like a Haltech or SDS . Custom made mounts and you are on ur way.

wow! u guys r really diggin' into the g series...good 4 u...these engines r selling very well here in malaysia...the 'basic' 200 hp 4g63 goes for about RM 2000 ( about US $500 )...change to a bigger turbine, bigger fuel pump bla bla bla...and you'll easily pull 240 - 280 outta them....careful, though...some of these engines r 10 yrs old!
