Well, Hyundai Australia IS considering making a 2 litre turbo 4wd Accent for competition in the 2002 Australian Rally Championship.
The car however will be strictly for competition, and will not make the public streets.
As they have now effectively banned WRC's from competing in our domestic series, it will basically be a Group N and 2 litre FWD championship. The organisers have to find some other way to get more than just Mitsubishi Lancers and WRX's in teh competition, so they have devised a Group N Prototype Class.
It basically allows any manufacturer to take one of the small/medium sized cars, do a lot of underside and chassis modifications and bolt in a WRX or Lancer engine and running gear.
The cars will however be stricly for limited rally competion use, and not offered for sale, or suitable for everyday road use.
But if you had enough spare change yourself, you could always have a go yourself.....
Cheers
