I own a 1992 Hyundai Excel GS and the transmission, slave cylinder, and catalytic converter are all broken. I currently have a 89 Nissan Sentra and would like to work on the Excel over the summer. I am wondering what engines from other cars would fit in my Excel. Any manufactures...i don't care just something faster than the stock engine. I have been told the rings in my car are shot so this is why I want to look into an engine conversion or swap for the same one. Any info is apriciated....

Thanks

you could drop the 4g63t turbo motor from a Talon/Eclipse in your car. That would give it a real nice swift kick in the a$$

Yeah,
That seems to be the choice option... I've been trolling Mitsu sites to gain some background on what could be possible. The drive train from our 90-94 Excels is similar to the early Mirage and Dodge Colt and probably something else, too. Check these for a start:

www.roadraceengineering.com/mitsumotorapplications.htm
www.mirageturbo.org/

I've seen somone on this board who swapped a 4G93 turbo into an Excel, but I haven't yet seen any specific documentation of the 2.0 into an X1 or X2.

peace

Does anybody know the specs on that engine? And aprox. how much it will cost? Is the excel capable of handling a bigger engine? thanks for the info...

The 2.0 beta will not fit without lots of $$$$$$

The 4g63t will be the best swap. You can do it for about $1200 for the motor and $500 for labor.
