It is the motor from the turbo eclipse.

Please only start one thread per topic. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

You won't have to change motormounts but you will have to change the tranny cause the stck tranny will not hold up to the power.

Thats about it.

If you have no clue in what to do then find someone that does.

I too am being a smart ass but a truthful one. If you donot know what to do then just don't tackle a job that size.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

ive swaped many engines before but not in a hyundai, ive done civic zc swaps in several civics. i found a engine and tranny but the guy at the wreckers said that that engine (mitsubishi, or here from a eagle talon) wont bolt up. the engine has 70 000 km and hes askin 1700 cdn for both. i want to know what kinda wiring problems i will run in to and other stuff like that

E-mail Hyundai4g63t he should be able answer the specific questions. My understanding is, it does line up but as far as wiring I have no clue.

well, as some of you know I have the 4G61BT in my X1 Excel and I also own a 93 X2.

One of the fellas in HyperWA works for a shop called 'Just Korean' and they have recently finished a 4G61BT conversion into the X2. I can assure you that it isn't that easy and requires some modification to all 4 mounts as the engine sits too high in the engine bay for the stockies (the 4G63 is slightly taller again!).

The standard X2 transmission is fine and will bolt straight up - just dont expect it to do another 100,000 miles on the turbo motor.

The clutch and gear cables are the easiest part of the job. Since the gear cables are flexible they just need to be bent down a little more. The hydraullic clutch has a flexible link in it which takes up movement so that gets left alone too. For the 4G63 you would need to get the flywheel, clutch & pressure plate from a 4G61 to fit the KM-201 (X2) transaxle bellhousing.

I have the larger KM-210 transaxle in the X1 although I cant recommend it as it is too much of a PITA to install (body mods for side clearance, custom driveshafts) - although it is possible & a better option in the long run.

The best bet would be to get this info 'straight from the horses mouth'. You can email this guy at:

But seriously. yep we have a 4g61t in a x2, we have had the 4g62 (1.8) and the 4g63 (2L) previously both normaly asperated. we can do this because the enine mounts are slung from the top so the extra deck height in the two litre hangs down, and just preloads the roll stops

hehe, maybe a more accurate description would have been 'donkeys mouth'.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

that's nice to know if I need to upgrade...
