94 excel.

Hey I am proud owner of 94 excel, 111k miles on it..runs great..only mods are a resonated muffler+tip...helps with lil less backpressure..nothing special..Ive heard horrible 0-60 times with the older excels...I dont have this problem with my 5 speed...seems I can make it there in 11 seconds or mabey even less..anyone confirm some #'s? Hp, 0-60 1/.4 mile....that would be cool..and what other mods can I do to make some real life performance? and would a eclipse 2.0 turbo engine fit in my car..how hard would the swap be?..what year would the 2.0 turbo have to be...any other comments? thanks

The eclipse engine should fit in the bay with some tweeking. I don't think it just pops right in. As far as performance things other than that, HVe in Australia now has slotted and cross drilled rotors for the Excel and Shark Racing has a strut bar for the excel. I have a strut bar on my excel and feel it increases the handling.

Laser, let me begin by saying that the older Excels(86-89) with a 5-speed manual are the best performers out of that year range. The four-speed is widely spaced and the automatic.....don't even go there.

You seem to have a nice 94! I have an 89 GL 5-spd and all I have done to it was paint the interior trim silver and K&N oil and air filters. I have the stock exhaust, but I will soon be looking for an aftermarket silenced big pipe. I love my car, and it seems as if you do too! Excel owners, such as ourselves, need not to worry about the mags dissing Excels. Thats because they're used to driving quiet as all hell Bimmers and Benzes. Those mags dis almost every small car because of one little squeak or some small air nosies coming in. I usually say 'F*ck the mags' because they don't own one of these fine cars, so they can't say jack s*it! I believe that the Civic's engine is one of the most annoying and loudest out of all the small and sub-compact cars. I suprise people when I take off from a stop because they automatically think-'Small car, lawnmower engine.'

About your hp figure, the 94's had somewhere in the vincinity of 80-84, whereas my year had 77(some sources say 68, but thats not true.) Yeah, I have a 90 excel gs and its got 133,000 miles on it and it has one rattle (cus of a bad strut i suspect) and no squeaks. Compared to my 86 camaro z28 with only 74,000 miles, in that car with the radio up all the way i can STILL hear all the squeaks and rattles... Excels rule.
