The problem with a SI is, the torque is kinda on the weak side if you know what I mean, HP doesnt mean sh!t when you compare a tib to a civic, You'll probaly do fine, I beat them all the time.

Both manual trans or auto? Keep a cool head. If you do race, concentrate on it. Make every shift (if you have a manual) perfect. Pretend the other dude isn't there. Race for yourself. Have fun and be careful!

p.s. kick some straigh H ass while you're at it.

What are stats on the tib?
Si's are dog slow

Just get ahead before 3rd cause that is when they really pull. Good Si Drivers are hard to come by. Good luck and post the results.

2.0l 16v dohc lol manual tranny... mhp cai, mhp short shifter.... 2 1/4" exhaust, rear strut bar, intrax lowering springs, and some 17" wheels/205 140zr 17" falken ziex tires.. It's cool.... it just caught me off guard... my friend walked up to this guy @ Sonic (a drive in fast food place to people who don't know) and started talking about cars with him, and there was a tiburon in the parking lot, so my car got brought up... and this guy was running his mouth about how there aren't any fast hyundais.... so we'll see ;)
(oh i think his is 5speed as well)

140hp 133ft of torque.
Same goes with the 2001 Elantra GT.

All depends how good you are. If you can get out of the hole before him and put at least a car on him, you should be able to hold him off for a bit.. if you both get out together, he'll take you by 3rd. Si's love the top end, and let's face it, once you get out of the hole.. it's all about the top end from there.

I agree with the top-end part. Before the race, determine how far/fast you will be racing. If it's just shy of the quater, you may win but any further and you'll probably get beat. Maybe you could be sneaky and chose to race only a short distance.

VTC_CIVIC is right watch out for third I got an auto but when I race them i always wait until I think they hit around 3rd and Spray then its Bye Bye baby as I laugh and spit exhaust fumes at them...but theres a difference between your stick and my auto you may be able to still pull out in third pluss I know you and can tell you can control your car...

Curious.. what are your Tiburon 1/4 mile times for basic bolt-ons? I know what Si's do since there's always like 15 of them out there when I go to Moroso, but I wanna know what the avg. Tib does.. my understanding is low 16's, true?

Hmm and this is an avg I take it? Cause in my EX I pulled an avg. of 16.1-16.3 everytime with a CAI and wasted clutch, while Si's (when well driven of course cause I've seen em' run 17's) pull 15.6's with AEM's. Other than banking on this guy not being able to drive, how is it that you guys are so confident that you're gonna kill this Si?

I wouldn't be confident. But I would have fun, use it as a new experience, and get to know how much more power I would need to install to run with him.(which wouldn't be much)
