99 octane?

1008 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  wilburisthecoolest
I work at a Shell petrolstation in Norway, and in a few weeks we ar launching a ned fuel, 99 Octane.
My boss told me that I can safely use this in my car, and that I will get more power (I usually run on 95 octane). Is this true? If so, how much are we talking, HP wize? Will it be noticable?

Thanks

There might be some other precautions cause I have no idea how an Hyundai engine will do w/ that stuff.

i would make sure you would run your car empty before you do such a thing. Like make sure you car is on E. than run it pretty much til nothing is left in the tank.

HP wouldnt be too much if you dont have the mods to that require higher octane. Like a Turbo w/ advanced timing... etc.

Your not going to get any more hp out of 99 octane gas.. Octane is the resistance to burn. The higher the number the more resistance.. You will be wasting money on this stuff and don't need it. With more octane you can run the more compression and or more timing... This is needed for high compression engines and or turbo engines. Stick with what you can afford and you will be fine.. Old wise tales say putting in a higher octane could blow up your motor.. Since it makes more horse power.. Which it doesn't ..
It might acctually make less, cause it wont burn all the way, thus making you have worse gasmilage. yep. my car runs like **** on 97, runs like **** on 87, but runs just fine on 89. funny...:paranoid:
I always put 93 octane in my tib. Is it worth it or should I go down to an 89? I always thought there were extra things in higher octane gas to help clean your engine and that you should definately put it in like once every 3 tanks of gas.
no more powah. higher octane is either required or not, like the above posts have mentioned.

and all that "superclean, cleans your engine, better for the environment, smoother this, cleaner that, polishes your shoes, makes your breakfast" stuff they write on the pump is bs.

they should put a real definition of what higher octane fuel does on the pumps instead.
