a little update on my situation (for the few who may care)

so a good amount of time has passed, and not a hell of a lot has been accomplished. I've found myself rather staved for cash, and not getting all that much done with the excel.

Here's the engine bay as it stands right now... empty, and in need of some sandblasting and fresh black paint.

I've got a few parts collected for once i have the damn engine... but they really don't help at the moment...

SRT-4 I/C, boost controller, A/F gauge, boost gauge, and the faceplate for my kenwood deck... woo.

For anybody who remembers the "Death of a Hyundai" video I posted a while back... we found the cause of it's demise...

Unfortunately, that's really all I have as an update on the excel... the cougar still sucks, but even more. Littered with electrical problems, i am seriously contemplating blowing the POS up.

HOWEVER, something else that came about over the last little bit...

This car was purchased brand new in 1973 by my grandmother. She drove it every day to get groceries, took one trip halfway across canada and back, and accumulated all of 48,000 miles until 1998. At that time, the speedometer cable broke, and she decided to park it in the garage rather than fix it.

And there it sat until this year when she decided she wanted it out ASAP. She had many offers, but nobody ever came through with cash. Ultimately, she decided to tow it to a wrecker for $200. There was no way in hell I was going to let that happen.

She gifted it to my parents, and I had it insured in my name. I cleaned the hell out of it for a day, drove around a few days, won some prizes in a car show I just showed up to on one sunday, then put up some for sale signs in it.

No more than 2 days later, I had an offer from my supervisor at work for $1800 cash, and he said he'd have it the next day.

for the week and a half I had the car, soooooooo fun to drive... but i think i was getting somewhere around the neighbourhood of 4-5 MPG?

I would have kept the car... but I am struggling financially as it is, gas would be rediculous, and there was nowhere to park the damn thing... so big.

Good to hear you're....doin'...LOL

At least the project is progressing, at whatever rate it is.

Painful to see that 3rd pic.

That's a damn classic car. A decent sized land yacht. I hear ya on the not being able to park. I had a 1979 DeVille I had to park once and it just sucked. I think you could've gotten a bit more for it...like at least $4K.
haha... yeah, "doin'" sounds about right

any progress is good progress

painful? that third pic is awesome. triumphant even. not an easy task :p

as far as getting more for the yacht... i probably could have, but as mentioned the speedo cable was broken, and it was pretty much either take the $1800 or let it go to a wrecker right away... I got the bulk of the profit too, so it's not that bad... but it all went straight to debt.
where is that hole? Looks like the oil pan? I cant tell.

DAAAAAAM
that i did...

i still think it was worth it...
Was that in a vid? cause i totally missed it..
Well I'm sorry to say this, but that car is worth a hell of a lot more than $1800.00 Try the blue book on it. That thing is worth almost 10k Also with the LOW miles and Very fresh and new interior...man I wish I could have got to you before you sold it, and told you not to sell it for 1800.00 Although I know how it feels to be low on cash. I'm sur ewe all do.
Umm, umm, I would have bought that for $3k. I would have FLOWN there for it!

as (i think) i mentioned before... the car needed to be gone that second... it was either i take it and sell it for what I could, or it was gone to a wreckers

there was nowhere to put it, i couldn't afford gas and insurance on two cars

i did my best to get it gone right away, and i think i did fairly well
