Nice title, huh?

Anyways, the race wasn't with my Accent, but it was so sad I thought I'd share.

My g/f and I were going to Walmart to buy some milk. On our way back we're waiting at a red light in her Del Sol (160hp) when a MkIII Jetta (115hp ) pulls up next to us. It looked to me like it had cut springs and I could hear some kind of a raspy exhaust . There's two teenagers in it, probably about 16 or 17 looking at the Del Sol and laughing. Keep in mind the Del Sol is completely stock other than an AEM intake and a shift knob (that sucks). So I decide to screw around with them.

The light turns green and they take off. I *kind of* race, shifting at 5000RPM rather than the 8200RPM redline I love. We stay even with them (without hitting VTEC ) until we catch some other cars and have to slow down. We get in the right turn lane and the Jetta follows. We take the right turn and we're side-by-side when I mash the pedal all the way down and take off. You should've seen the look on their faces when they heard it . Ask Lantra an ^saint, they can both testify to how loud it gets. After that I proceeded to distance myself by about 10 carlengths to 75mph before I shut down. The whole time I'm driving, the aforementioned piece-of-crap shift knob is twisting in my hand everytime I shift, screwing me up.

Oh well, mark another loss for the Vegas riceboys .

that's cool rob because i have story like that and i will keep it short and simple . my friend and i were riding around in his 92 preludenon-vtec but it is fast. so we were at this stop light and we were meeting up with some friends and party and this this older sentra was beside us ( don't get me wrong i like sentras) but this kid had it riced out with a wing big enough for bonnevile salt flat car would use for 200mph runs and a coffee can for an exhaust was beside us. the kid was revving and i just told my frien to make it quick because i drove his car after he got the street ported and made it just faster. so my friend dump clutch at 5000rpm and launches and just kept going and we got 10 carlenghts like you but it was like seconds and he didn't even go through all the gears. and the only mod to my friends car is the street porting and some interior upgrades. but recently i heard something happen and he grenaded the bottom end. oh well he will be dropping in that vtec with a jackson supercharger he wanted now. see ya guys later.

VTC, when I met her she drove an auto-Neon . Once we started dating she sold the Neon and bought a '92 Civic LX with a B18B/GSR tranny combo swapped in. Shortly after that car got stolen so she got the Del Sol. She wanted a Tiburon but we found the Del Sol for $10,000 .

I was surprised as hell too when I found it. I asked the saleslady to pop the hood and my jaw dropped. She bought it the next day.

There are 3 models for the 93-97 Del Sol:

Del Sol S: 106hp 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC
Del Sol Si: 125hp/127hp 1.6L SOHC VTEC
Del Sol VTEC: 160hp 1.6L DOHC VTEC

They're small, but they're weighty little bastards. One of the heaviest Civics made up to 2000.

They handle like a dream though, thanks to a small chassis and four-wheel double-wishbone suspension.

My g/f wants to get a del sol. I am trying to find cheap one with nice body and just see about dropping like some year gsr egine in there. But those aem cai's are loud and once the v-tec kicks in you can hear it from like a half mile way.

I would have to say that Honda's B-series VTEC-equipped motors are my favorite sounding 4-cylinder engines.

The Del sol is one of my favorite "affordable" cars of all time.

hrm. why buy a del sol when you can have a 1st or 2nd gen Miata or 2nd or 3rd gen MR2 for about the same money? del sols have never made sense to me for the money they cost. Miata or MR2 are actual sports cars imo, lighter then the del sol, RWD, can ACTUALLY handle their bidness at the AutoX (not saying the del sol cant, but i'd put money on the fact theres more miatas or mr2's in the top of their classes then del sols) not just a "smaller" civic. personally i'd rather have an EG or EK hatch then a del sol any day.

just my thoughts now quit creaming your pants over a car that isn't that great

nice kill though meng. keep up killin them Kraut Ricers!

I'm not creaming my pants but I'm sporting a little. Yeah, I was just reading something about the Del Sol
DOHC VTEC a few weeks ago...wish I could remember where...1/4 mile times etc...a '95 as I recall. My neck of the woods is crawling with
Miatas, I would much prefer the MR2.
I know that the Miata isn't a muscle/drag car, more about fun in
the twisties and hills etc, but for the money I'd want a lil more in the
raw acceleration area...16 flat in the 1/4 is cool, but for $22,000
I'd want more.

hehe. spoken like someone who's never driven in Miata

7psi non intercooled greddy turbo kit should probly take care of your raw power needs. 190-200hp in a 2300lb car will get you a long way.

and i'm not talking about the new MR2, which i think is total ass. i'm thinkin 2nd gen MR2-T, which i love too...

Oh but I HAVE driven a Miata. The 200 hp would be sweet, but the reality is closer to 140...stock Miata anyhow...unless you know something I don't?

Thats to the Honda Boys!!!

I think it's time to be the underdog and fill up my engine bay with a big nasty surprise for the Type-R posers and make tears come out of their eyes when they realise they got smacked in the face by a "piece of no-go junk" HAHAHAHA
