3 inch?!? only if you running gobs of boost plus a 100 shot of NOS.

Do yourself a favour if you got one of those cheap 29.99 mufflers trash it!!!

Get a custom job at your local muffler shop and invest in a good high flow cat and muffler.

Keep your pipe size at about 2 if you plan on not doing alot to your engine or 2.25 if you plan to replace your header , CAI cams, gears etc....

Hell dynomax if you need cats and a nice SS high flow muffler.

Beautiful and for about 500 bux if you know where to look....

If your gonna do something wait till you can do it right the first time

I haven't started with customizing my 3d '96 accent. I've been told its best to start with the exhaust. I've been mostly looking online for systems, but they seem to be a bit more expensive than $350 US. Are you guys shopping online, or at local shops?....which is better?

basically, if you know how to install the muffler and exhaust yourself, it will be cheaper to buy online. You'll have to know how to weld and stuff though. If not, I'd suggest taking it up with a shop. It won't run you too too much more.

Whoa Nelly!, hell I was running 20psi on my VWagon and only though about using 3" pipe, on an NA car you'd be losing way too much back pressure and whould lose way too much torque. 2 1/4-2 1/2 mandrel would be plenty.

Hey dudes!

I got a 2inch catback from HVE (i live in Aust.) and its great! Also becasue the system is modular the 4 into 1 extractors will fit straight on!
I paid $400--->thats aussie money though!
Ext. are $750 standard....or $1000 ceramic coated!
basically just half these prices for a quick conversion.. or use HVE's currency converter!
Good luck!

oh yeah..just a quick question!
whats the G-O with the Accent GS?

i mean...the Accent wasn't introduced in Aus untill 2000.... previous 'Accents' were badged Excel's!
Anyways.... we get 3 models LC/GL...GS and GLS! Now i was looking around and saw that a GS came with a 1.6L engine! that true? Ours are 1.5, through the whole range.. producing 76kw (101hp approx.)
I think we downunder got screwed! :)

In the US, the x3 was called the accent as well.

The LC comes in L (base 3dr model, 1.5L SOHC), GS (the sporty, and i use that term very lightly, 3dr with the 1.6L DOHC), and the GL (4door sedan, 1.6L DOHC).

The 1.5L SOHC makes 92hp. It has a MAF sensor found mainly in the North American cars.

The 1.6L DOHC Alpha makes 105 hp. It is equipted with a MAP sensor, like the aussie cars. To my knowledge, this motor is available only in North America.
