Today i was on my way back from chambersburg and as i stopped at a red light a **** load of smoke came rollin' out from under my hood so i pulled off to the side of the road popped the hood up and there was close to 2 quarts of oil throwin' on the engine block and around the bay like i had blown a rod through the cylinder wall or something...i have never seen a gasket leak this bad before so i don't think that could be it and i just can't figure out what is wrong with it. I'm lookin' towards the worse right now and it looks as though a new engine is going to be cheaper to do then to get this one rebuilt<img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/approve.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> so does anyone know of a place in the hagerstown/chambersburg area that would do a beta swap with the tranny, ecu, clutch, and engine and if so do you know any prices??? thanks guys

Well I don't know of a place in Pa that does engine swaps.

Just be patient the topic has only been up for a day maybe no one from Pa has read it yet.

What year accent do you have anyway?
Is it an auto or manual tranny?

We will be carrying an engine swap kit at our online store soon. I am waiting for the kit to be finnised with being developed myself. My car is also parked in my garrage til I get the parts.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/disapprove.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

dan at kore can get you an engine tranny and ecu, but i do not know of anyone that has done the swap. just find a shop that you trust and get them to do it.

The kit will make it a straight drop in as far as the engine goes. If you want to switch to the 5spd manual tranny (and believe me you will want to do it) this would be a good time to do it.

When it will be available I don't know for sure. The store will be open soon but the kit is still being developed. If you can hold up it will be well worth the wait. I will try to keep you posted on it. Luckily I live across the street from work. here is the up date on my car...i have a crack in my oil pan gasket and my head gasket has been burnt completely up and the mechanic quoted me over 10 hours of labor to clean off the block and replace all the parts and said it would be a minimal fee of $800...so looks like i'm searchin' for a 2.0 now for certain and i was quoted $550 for the engine alone from Triple Nickel and they told me that it would be $900 for the tranny which is simply bullshit cus i could buy an entire wrecked tibby for that so i'm lookin' all over the chambersburg/hagerstown area for some tibby parts and someone to do the drop...untill then my ass be walkin' around<img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Dan will get you the engine, Tranny and ECU for $1000 you may possibly be able to avoid the shipping charges since you are in Pa.

We do not have a price or release date on the kit but it will be soon. It is currently being developed by Ballistic in South Africa.

The Kit will include motormounts and stronger axles. After getting the Kit, engine, tranny, ecu, and labor count on the complete swap running $2000+

first off, i don't know what year your accent is so idk how easy it will be. Go to a shop and ask them if they can do a stock engine swap, like putting in another 1.5l. if they say yes to that, then you know of a shop that can do the beta swap, cause its just that damn easy. You may need to shorten the sideshafts, but the shop can do that, and depending on the year, you may need to **** with the front motor mount

That means modifying the front engine mount and buying tib axles and paying to have them shortened.(if you don't buy the kit)

Yeah my car is a 96 and is in my garage gettin' the interior tore outta it cus i know it is going to be down forever so i am just gonna start workin' on everything that i wanted to do to it now...and hey autobot i know i've been askin' you alot of questions but do you know if the kit is going to be done in days, weeks, or months...lol...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/approve.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> and i also have found a 99 wrecked tibby at a junkyard around my house so if worse come to worse i will just have to go and buy that...but i'm holdin' out as long as possible to get your kit...and hell if you need a second test car mine is open for anything...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/finger.gif width=33 height=15 border=0>

You don't need a kit to do one of the most simple engine swaps in all cars. Any shop that is capable of opening a beer can will be able to do it.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/finger.gif width=33 height=15 border=0>

954door, you've never seen what's involved in swapping a Beta into a '96 Accent. You have a 2000, those are easy. For the '96 you have to fabricate a new motor mount, rewire the wiring harness and shorten the axles.

Any competent shop doesn't have the tools to do most of that.

You have to grind the mount down because it too tall, a shop dosn't have a grinder? And the wiring harness can be done by a stereo shop, those boys are very good with wiring.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
