Well if you have the L model, just buy the GS guage assembly and you have a tach. Hyundai pre-wires the tach but dosn't install it, i guess to ease building pains. All you do is hook up the new guages and it works like a charm

aftermarket tach?.... take out the gauge assem....take out the harness on the top left of the back of the gauge....splice into the second wire from the right......it works but you need to get a 2 cyl tachometer. VDO makes one for 50 dollers..and sunpro for 120. i have a VDO with a shift light, its 4 inch and works well....find it @www.sumitracing.com. its like 85 dollers.
I'm a noobie and I've done alot of searching about finding my tach signal, and this forum has been the most helpful, but... I'm noobie learning about engine's and all that stuff, and everyone keeps sayin the ecm, but my dash is out the other metal protector rail thing behind it is out ready for my tach, but I look under there and don't see anything like anybody explained. I have tried tappin into about every grey wire I've seen and no luck, if anyone could show a detailed picture or be more specific that would be gladly appreciated. I have a 2001 Accent L model 1.5 SOHC and a 3 1/2 Ractive 7 Color tach.
Okay so if I was to get a guage cluster from a GS should I go to the dealership, or try finding one at a junkyard? Also I was wondering, anybody know where I can find a turbo or supercharger for my accent? I was thinking about working my butt off in the future and saving up for a 2.0 V-tech DOHC if I can put it in there. Also I am lookin for a set of Motegi MR-7's, 17-inch in white. I have the MR-12's right now and 15's. I will trade them and maybe some cash or if anybody has a good deal or needs something who has a set let me know.
No you cant put a vtech in the accent, well you can but itd be cheper to jsut go buy a civic si. Id try the junkyard b4 the dealer because it would be much cheaper, do you want the white faced or the black? I have both for sale! Dont get motegis they are too heavy and WAYYYYYYYY played out!
I was thinking about putting in the GS or GL gauge assembly BUT I don't want to have any issues with the dealership about mileage! Someone told me that they have tachs with an LED in it that acts as the shift lite. I'm thinking that would look alright in a 3 or 4" size. Ideas or Opinions????
I want the white face guages, but it'd be simple right? all I'd have to do is disconnect the 3 connector's in the back of the guage assembly and then connect it to the white face guage assembly? True the motegi's are arround alot, but I love the MR-7's in white.
I really was lookin forward to a vtech. Anyhow my plans are... to achieve at least 250 HP without nitro, but again I really want to keep my car just because I have the only import accent in my town, and proably a couple towns arround me. I like to be different. Oh yea, okay so what's a good engine I could put in my car, I have plenty of room now, without my cold air box and all that, plus I relocated my battery to my trunk. I'll post more pic's on car domain soon, people on there take for ever to respond or help somone out but seems like people try to help out here daily, I like that, thanks everyone.
Oh another question, does anybody know if like a turbo from another car would work on an accent, or is there like any kind of universal turbo? Also coilover's or lowering springs? Which is better, and is there like any from another car I can use, cause man sharkracing wants $405 for coilovers.
