I'm new at all this mod stuff. So how do you install an air/fuel gauge. Will this help me monitor my NOS?

You splice into the first 02 sensor wires, and run them to the AF gauge.

It won't "help" you run Nitrous (more power), but it will help you detect a lean or rich condition in the engine, and hopefully give you the time to shut off the Nitrous before it damamges your engine.

Most stock o2 sensors report in a very narrow window of A/F ratios...so if the meter pegs lean, you could just be at 12:1 or you could be melting your motor with 5:1. I say this to let you know that they can help provide you with more information, but proper tuning of a kit on a dyno and a wide band O2 sensor is the prefered method to keep you from melting your pistions and valves into tupperware shapes.

I had mine wired into the o2 sensor but it just says I'm running rich all the time, the reading should fluctuate, so I shall be moving it to the sensor wire off the ECU.

Now where is the ECU located and which wire is that you are going to tap into. Which one is better to tap in?<img src=/images/forums/snitz/cry.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>

Well...I spoke to my local dealer and for a 1998 Uk spec tib, you need pin 17 which has a blue/yellow wire. (So I shall be doing this soon)

The bad news is that Hyundai change the wires colours every year, plus the US tibs will use a different ECU and will have different coloured wires.

I know that another guy in the US used pin 12 with I think was green and yellow.

I would suggest that you ring a Hyundai dealer and get them to look it up in the book for your year of Tib.

Hey Random, where would be the best place to tap in. The O2 sensor or the ECU wire?

It's easiest and simplest to tap right into the O2 sensor itself.

Hyundai has no wire color loyalty, so you will have to play with the wires to find the right one.

Go to Radio shack an buy a cheap voltmeter. Keep trying all the wires till you fine one where the voltage flucuates when the car is idling. Use that wire to feed the AF gauge

See now, my a/f meter is running off the 02 sensor and even after the sensor has warmed up I am still getting wacko readings.

WTF is going on?

I'm still gonna try of the ECU wire though.

Any thoughts on this Random?
