My amp NOW works for some odd
reason, but between that frequency thing of 50-300... if its all the way, it
shorts out... but I turned it like 3/4, and it works fine till a song with
too much bass for it hits, then turns it off.. When I installed my amp my
way [off the 6x9s, highs/lows, remote through fuse box] this never happened.
Now, its through the head unit and always shorts out. But before I ran it
into the head unit, the amp was full blast, and it was grounded on a painted
bolt... What might be the problem? Or should I just rig it back to the way
I had it???

What do you mean installed on the head unit??What kind of amp is it and how big is it? It sounds like your driving the amp into clipping...Provide more details and I'll work it out for you.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

installed in head unit: NOT ran off the highs and lows off the back 6x9s with speaker wire, and remote is wired to the back as well. In otherwords... RCA cabled to the back of my aftermarket head unit, and the remote, is also to the back of my head unit.

What Kind of Amp: Sony X-plod XM serious [760watts] 50-300hz, 10dbmax... yadda yadda.

When I wired it to the 6x9s, and had the remote turnoff wired into the fuse box, I never had these problems... now I get "current overflow" and it pisses me off... I have to turn my amp down for it to work [which means, little bass] <img src=/images/forums/snitz/mad.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>

Where is it grounded to?? If its on a painted screw take it of and file away the paint. Also how r ur subs wired?? When I got my amp installed it didn't werk period and then I checked out how I wired the speakers and that was my problem. So how u wired ur speakers may have something to do with it, the amp may not be able to handle the way they are wired. Just giving my 2¢, hope that helps u out a little.

dude do you even know how to adjust the gain??? because it sounds like your going to blow your amp!! the head unit sould be set to 90 percent of full volume....with the gain or sensitivity all the way down....bass and treb should be at 0 or exactly in the middle..ex. my eclipse goes from -6 to +6 ihad mine at 0.....turn the gain or sensitvity up till you hear audible distortion...turn the gain down a slight bit and your problems should go away!! if not watch the amp to see if its shuting itself off which means that the ohms might be off or there is not enough power...ihad a kenwood amp that was not 2 ohm stable and at the time i didnt know this and it did exactly what yours is doing because i had it down to 2 ohms...get it??? i hope so!! later good luck
